If I visited your home without you knowing that I was coming.....

Would I find you living a life that IS or IS NOT what you project away from your home....or on the SoWal board???? In other words....is your life different at home? Or is it consistent to what you reveal to others about yourself?

I'll go first....if you visited my home morning, noon, or night I think you would be totally shocked! :yikes:

You would find that my house is not arranged in the neat and tidy order like the letters typed on SoWal.com.

Somebody's gonna have to tell me what I project. (Is it someone hunched over a computer when she should be asleep? That's pretty accurate!)

You would find dog toys covering the floor in the living room, cat toys scattered throughout the house, clean clothes folded but still on the couch and general clutter around, but clean. SO, you would be shocked here too!!

Every day, I tell the "kids" to clean the house while I am at work, but they just mess it up even more!!:D

I would like to think I portray myself online as I do in real life. Wait - aren't they the same?? :idontno: Yes - come over anytime! You will have to let my dog out though. And play fetch with him as well. He's obsessed with fetch. (while you're here - without me knowing - could you clean too? thanks!).

My house in GA is totally disorganized. I keep the clutter hidden, but open up a closet or a drawer and you'll see a disaster. It stays pretty clean thanks to my cleaning service, but it needs a good deep-clean. I am also a pack rat, so I keep everything for fear that as soon as I throw it away, I'll need it. I really need someone to come in and help me organize my house, but no such services are available here. I also need a decorator, but I haven't found one whose tastes I like. They want to come in and spend a boatload of money, whereas I just want to make some slight modifications. So as a result, after taking down the wallpaper in the master bath, we haven't painted or papered it or the bedroom. They all want to do pale yellow or green; thise just aren't turn-on colors for me in a bedroom. Currently it's deep red with a lot of blue and white porcelain pieces that I collect. They say the deep red is out.:idontno:

Also, Beach Jacket won't throw out any of her toys or old clothes, so her rooms have jam-packed closets. And I don't know what to do with her collection of formals that are taking up so much space -- it's not like I have any friends with 6'2" daughters. And she probably has a couple of hundred stuffed animals. Most of those need to go, but she gets sad when I ask her to get rid of any. And I don't know what to do with all of the American Girl furniture -- she doesn't want to get rid of that, either. But it clutters things up.

Of course, my closets aren't any better. And neither are my husband's.

Don't even like to go into the attic. It is a real dumping ground.:bang:

Other than our garage/basement (which is Flyforfunn's mess!) our house stays pretty organized and clean. My closests could use some help. The basement is not dirty, it is just packed to the rafters (or is it just beams in a basement?), he is a pack rat! Of course the Watersound house is new so I'd just ask you to help finish unpacking boxes! The clinic stays clean too, with some help. I have friends that say they have no idea how I do it all. Neither do I. :idontno: I am a bit OCD about some things, keeping things picked up is one of them. My grandmother always told me to put things back where you got them and things will stay tidy. It is true.

So come on over any time Kat! My foods not as good as yours.....so I'll just take you out to dinner! :D

Drop in any time :welcome: I'm pretty boring. What I type is what you get.

My house will be "picked up", the bed will be made and everything will appear clean to most men, but the women will notice it's not spotless. You'll find wine and beer in the fridge, help yourself. The closets are a mess, but that's why they have doors.

Our lifestyle is a pretty typical lifestyle and house in a large midwestern college town in an old neighborhood with treelined (big old trees) streets, sidewalks, mismatched houses many with porches, some yards and lawns taken care of better than others (we're in the middle in terms of taking care of our yard - not out of control, but not neatly manicured either). Our house is usually organized and clean enough as long as you don't go in the kids rooms (chaos)/back porch/basement/attic closets and if I'm not working on a project in my office (which is a recliner by the fireplace with my laptop and a bunch of newspapers/books/empty tea cups/toast plates strewn around the recliner - that's what it looks like right now and rather than cleaning it up I'm on sowal.com). Also, rather than clean it up I think I'll head outside to my outdoor office which is a nice lawn chair (it, too, reclines) facing the garden for the rest of the morning.

I've been spending the past 6 months and hope to spend the next 6 months just getting rid of more and more things that we don't need/use. Stuff can be overwhelming!

My desk is probably the messiest thing in the house. I don't know how it happens. It gets worse thoughout the school year with even more papers to add the the stacks. Overall it's generally clean but not spotless for sure. I've always been the mom playing with the kids or taking them somewhere rather than obsessing over a clean house. Hmm, no kids here since they're at school so maybe I should be cleaning....nah, sowal is more funn.

I love my home! It is funn, funky and eclectic. Everything in my home has a special meaning: a fire poker that belonged to my grandmother, cherished childhood books, stones & shells from special places I have visited, photos and art that I love... . My home is filled with, not posessions, but memories:wub:

My dog is our doorbell. But she'd let you in.;-)
You wouldn't be able to sit at the table with us for a cup of tea without moving the papers off that fourth chair. That's where ours pile up.
And papers, bills, and "stuff" on the ends of all the kitchen counters. I even bought a special cart w/drawer to organize this clutter but it's still empty! :floor:

Ahhh, Allifunn, that sounds so nice -- "My home is filled with, not possessions, but memories". I forgot to mention that on one side of my recliner office is the old base of the black iron pedestal sewing machine that was my grandmothers and that I learned how to sew on (I put a glass tabletop on it keep my laptop and lamp on that table). On the other side of the recliner is a white tallish post with a 12X12 inch square top where I keep my tea and toast or whatever snack I'm having while I work. The post is a piece from the arbor that was in the backyard where I grew up. After my mother died, my kind brother-in-law took down the arbor (it was falling down) and made the posts into small tables. So, when I work in my recliner, I'm literally nestled between my grandmother's sewing machine and my mother/father's arbor. Very good vibes I must say.

You would find our house neat and clean. My wife is a neat freak and hates clutter. Just stay the he%% away from my work bench. It is a mess but I know where everything is and just can't seem to keep it looking neat. I do a lot of projects so I use most of my tools and just put them within easy reach.

Hmmmm....let's see. I am NOT a neat freak. I have clutter. I am usually home only to sleep and eat. I will clean my house really, really good when my son leaves. I am too busy with him and all that he has going on. I do pay a friend of mine about once a month to come in an deep clean for me and I do try to vaccum about once a week because I do have dogs. Oh, yeah don't wear black or anything dark colored to my house or you will look very furry when you leave. I keep lint brushes everywhere for this purpose. My doggies sleep on my furniture. I don't care. I am a pack rat as well. I have cherished keepsakes that were both of my grandmother's and my moms treasures. Pictures everywhere. My furniture doesn't match, it was hand-me down. I would rather save my money for SoWal. ;-) My house is lived in and that is the way I like it!!!!!

I do have the coolest bulletin boards at my office at church. I'm not sure anything would help here at home...maybe a paper shredder.
