I love Caring and Sharing. They are my fave local charity. I doubt I will make the concert but I will contact them on Tues to see what they need. THanks for the heads up...

I love them too! They do so much good -- right here. They are now the main place I donate to. I use to donate to several places.. but now when it is times to clean out my closet it all goes to Caring & Sharing.

They also have a drop off point/store/food bank at their Lynn drive location in Santa Rosa Beach. They don't keep standard business hours. I'll look a little more and post what I find.

Friends of Caring & Sharing of South Walton gathered behind the charity?s main building at Neally Business Village on Aug. 14 for a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 3,000-square-foot warehouse. .....

Caring & Sharing was founded in 1994 by the South Walton Ministerial Association to coordinate the efforts of churches to help those in need. The mostly volunteer organization provides food, clothing, household furnishings and financial assistance to needy residents of South Walton and Freeport.

Caring & Sharing is supported by local churches and through monthly pledges from civic groups, businesses and individuals. To fund the services it offers to the community, the organization sells clothing and household items in its thrift store.

The new warehouse will not only allow space to store donations of furniture and appliances, it will also provide additional room for the thrift store, which will allow Caring & Sharing to expand its services, Barnhart said.

I talked to the friend about the upcoming concert and I thought I would report that she went to their Christmas concert and loved it! Said the music was great and it was a lot of fun.

Thought I should share in case anyone was on the fence on whether or not to go!

Recently, I heard that Caring and Sharing of South Walton no longer gives out money or Wal-mart cards anymore. I know in the past they would help out with gas, electric bills even rent for those in need...serious need. But now, due to their big fancy new building they stopped the handouts. Heard they were only giving out food. (other than their Christmas toys).
Have you heard the same thing?? I hope that this in not true because I know that there are MANY folks in the area in SERIOUS need right now.

Hey dear Romeo don't know if there has been a change in policy but I will see if I can do a little research.

I'm not sure that the buidling is finished - but I'm going to do a little research and see if I can give a better answer. I know that the point of the building was that they have had to turn down certain donations because they simply didn't have room.

So far:

An article asking for food donations and explaining how they decide who to give to.

An article in Sept about raising money for the warehouse.

An article on the ground breaking.

No mention on if the building is finished. Anyone else have info?
