And this includes turning up 2 of the ac units up to 76 while we are at work till we go to bed that night. Then I turn the main floor down to 74 and the upstairs to 72 overnight.

you got that right, I have to have cold so I can pile on the covers....
I would be dancing if that was my bill.shoot I have a pool sweep I could give you that some spa guy gave me as a promo gift....dont' have a pool but couldn't pass up the idea of $730 dollar give away......need it? but only if you have round edges on your pool! Then the pool guy comes today and says we need a new pool sweep...$730.00!!!!
I told Mr. K to get the broom out!
Mine has been over $250 for the last couple of months. What kills me is that my moms house, no one in it, water heater turned off, no ceiling fans on, fridge on lowest setting, no lights on, air on 80 and the bill is still $140??? crazy I must say...
There are some things WORTH paying for.
...a cool woman is a happy woman!Sweet Joe, Obviously you have no menopausal women in your home.Nor do RiverOtter and BeachSiO2, so what is your point?

you got that right, I have to have cold so I can pile on the covers....:roll:That just never made sense to me. Covers can be more appreciated in the winter time. If you guys want to complain about power bills, ditch the covers and turn the therms up. 81 degrees feels like a cooler when you come in from 100 degree temps. Your internal body temp is 98, so do some simply math, avoid drinking lots of alcohol and eat low cal cooler foods in the summer. It ain't rocket science. ;-)

Unplugged EVERYTHING? Lamps, toaster, microwave, clocks, etc...really??? no I did not unplug lamps, etc. I will tommorow though. Thanks for the tip, CHELCO did not give me any....
Even if the item is off but still plugged in the wall it will use 30% of it's normal power output. For real.
True enough. but my wife has a 2 degree comfort window where she is too hot or too cold. As you pointed out and Dr Phil says, if Momma ain't nobody, ain't nobody happy. So, our house is 75 in the day and 72 at night. That is the motto in our house also....

I don't feel quite so bad about the bill for my little house - it was $217.90 this month. Not that I'm thrilled with that---![]()
Only $57.32. I feel like I hit the jackpot after hearing these amounts!
You are about 10 degrees too cold. Wear less clothes around the house and put that therm no lower than 81 at night, use summer bedspread and sleep naked. In the day time when you are away, bump it up to 83 to keep the dogs cool. You are not running a meat locker.

Just an idea.We did some work in paxton to day and a lady said if ya chain a big dog next to the power meter it'll get cha 3 months of power before they can cut ya off.Just an idea.
Don't let me tell you how to set the therm in your own house, but if you want to lower your bills, take note, and live more in harmony.

You beat me. Mine is $81, but I'm on budget billing. Still, I live like Smiling Joe:
Sometimes we're birds of a feather, SJ. I do turn on my little window unit in the bedroom at night because I don't like to wake up sweaty, but half the time I wake up cold and have to turn it back off. The thermometer in my house says 80 right now, and the only things running are the ceiling fans. (And after being in a refrigerated school all day, I'm comfortable!)

I've been guilty of this a time or two... but overall I don't get it either. My A/C hoovers around 78 degrees (the difference between were the theromstat is and the rest of the house is always plus a few degrees)
The thing that makes it cool is two oscilationing fans.
My A/C kicked off as I was typing this.![]()
I knew Iyou NoHall!

I remember staying with my Grandparents and them freezing me all the time. I'm a Florida girl that only uses the AC in the car when it is really sticky outside. They would leave a blanket in the car for me when I would visit them --- I was always cold.![]()
(Sorry I know this is very off topic but I'm sleepy and I thought it was a cute story.)

But I keep it on 70 unless I'm getting dressed then I drop it to 68.
