Second Drowning in a Week Claims Father and Son
New this morning...(Sep 12)
A Walton County Beach rescue turned deadly for a father and his son.
It happened about four-thirty yesterday in the gulf behind Surfside Condos at Miramar Beach.
Authorities say 43 year old Gregory Carson and his son 23 year old Dominique Chatman swam out to help some family members in distress but couldn't get back to shore.
Both men were taken to the hospital where they later died.
A yellow flag was flying at the beach, cautioning swimmers of dangerous conditions.
The family was swimming in an area about a half mile from lifeguards.
The men are both from Slidell, Louisiana.
A wedding anniversary celebration turned tragic after the husband drowned at Navarre beach.
This makes the second drowning this week.
Sunday afternoon, 51-year-old William True was pronounced dead after his wife found him lifeless in the water and pulled him to shore.
Authorities say true and his wife were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.

It was red flag out there today. Why is it always the people trying to rescue who end up drowning?
