I love my brand new house in Seacrest Beach on 30A, but why do I have to have a PC Beach zip code? If I wanted a PC Beach address I would have moved there!!!
Also, why does the U.S mail recognize that my Seacrest address in zip 32413, but UPS and Fed Ex (for my at home business) won't permit it--they say it is PC Beach?
Help!!!!!!!!!

wow. As an FYI- I see many variations of the addresses within a neighborhood in the MLS. For example,
555 Zippy Ln
Seacrest Beach, FL 32459
556 Zippy Ln
Seacrest Beach, FL 32413
557 Zippy Ln
Panama City Beach, FL 32413
558 Zippy Ln
Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459
559 Zippy Ln
Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32413
If the zipcode is still the Panama City Beach zip (32413), in the searches on Realtor.com and other sites, the listings will come up only in the search for that PCB zipcode.
This is kind of screwed up. Some showing Santa Rosa Beach with 32459, some saying Seacrest Beach with 32413, some showing Santa Rosa Beach with the PC Beach zip, 557 Zippy Ln with a PC Beach zip. What a mess. One thinks all of those homes on Zippy Ln would of course be under one zip code.

This is kind of screwed up....One thinks all of those homes on Zippy Ln would of course be under one zip code.It all depends on which address/zip the agent thinks will score the most hits. Technically, all of the zips on the fictitious "Zippy Ln," would have only one mailing address (plus one delivery address for the Fed Ex and Ups peeps).

SHELLY...it happens in cities and neighborhoods all over this great country of ours...why are you so surprised?
Exactly ... ever heard of 90210?

You get the zip of the post office branch that serves you. Your delivery route originates at a location in the 32413 zip area. Thanks for explaining that. I always wondered why that part of 30-A was addressed as being in PCB.
I'm not sure how UPS and FedEx carve their space. If you have to have an SRB zip then you can rent a box at Mailboxes etc. in Seagrove or UPS store at WaterColor Crossing.
UPS -- that's another story. Every time I have a UPS delivery in Seagrove, they see the Santa Rosa Beach zip code. So they literally go to Santa Rosa Beach, not Seagrove Beach, and can't find my house. So I end up driving down Highway 30-A to flag down the UPS truck in order to get my packages.
At least they don't go to Santa Rosa County (another thing that's weird to me -- Santa Rosa Beach isn't in Santa Rosa County

I have had nightmares with this....
The Watersound post office and the Rosemary Beach post office mail originates in PCB.
I belive that the Rosemary Beach zip 32461 is the same as Sunnyside, Fl.
I have always put Inlet Beach, Fl. 32413 on my checks and everything else just so the delivery person knows it is in Walton coundy.THere is a street in Bay County on the beach with almost the same street name as mine in Walton County. Our mail has been messed up many times....
When using Fed Ex or UPS I always make sure that I have the sender put Walton County on the address somewhere...
Maybe one day we will be our own....

I guess I shouldn't be....it's all part and parcel of the Prada-fication of the Panhandle. But, hey.....as long as they get their Property Tax notifications, I just don't see a problem.

I have had nightmares with this....You should check with Emergency Services to see how they would handle a 911 call from your address. ;-)

Anything with the PCB zip code will show it as a PCB address when you call 911. It is usually not a big deal as the address will come up on the map automatically as long as it is in Walton County. Same thing happens in the Miramar Beach areas. That is a 32550 Destin zip code. Even better is that Sandestin Resort is 32550 and right above is Driftwood Estates in 32459. Fun time for sure.

Oh Sure, that part is OK....but, more importantly, what can we do about the 911 operator and responders snickering about the PCB zip code??

Don't hate me because I am beautiful, hate me because my zip code is 32459.
Oh, and did I mention I "live" on the south side of 30-A.

Since the Panama City Beach Emergency Services are in Bay County, and SoWal's in Walton County, I just thought there may be potential for screw ups. I grew up in a town where 911 calls were local, but our phone services were through the neighboring state's. So, if you called 911, we received Emergency services in the neighboring state, and they were told specifically that the could not cross the State line for emergencies. So, our little town, not having a 911 service, and only volunteer ambulance and fire, we had to look up the number in the phone book for City Hall, who didn't have 24/7 dispatch. If the call was after hours, the phone would continuously ring.Do you think they send the jalopy ambulance to PCB 911 calls?!
They didn't even have an answering machine. So if you really needed help, you had to call the Sheriff, which was a long distance call because he lived in a neighboring small town just down the road. That meant, you had to dial 0 (zero) to get an operator to place the call. The Sheriff (my cousin) was rarely at home. If no answer at his house, you started to work your way down the ranks.

After the fires in SoWal this summer, I read that the Emergency services for this area of NW FL are somewhat interlinked and will cross County lines, but if I were living in a questionable area of concern, I would be contacting Emergency Services to see how they respond. If the call goes into PCB 911, can they dispatch Walton County? Just a question I would ask. I recall a recent incident where a person's home in SoWal burned to the ground, even though they called 911 immediately. After never hearing the sirens, and the home being less than 5 miles to the nearest Fire Station, the homeowner called again. Dispatch had sent the Fire Trucks to a place in North Walton, with a similar street name. OOPS! By the time the SoWal firetrucks arrived from the second call, it was too late.

If the call goes to a different county, they have the ability to transfer to the proper agency. This usually does not happen from a hard-wired phone line. BUT, using a cell phone is a much different matter. You can be way into Bay county for example and dial 911. It is very well possible that your cell phone will be picked up by a tower in Walton County. That will send your call to the wrong answering point. Unfortunately, it is the nature of the cell technology.

Now, I'm totally confused. I hear you saying that if you call 911 from a land line from an property in WalCo, with a PCB zipcode, the address shows up as being in PCB. Does the call go to Bay Co Emergency services, or Walton Co?
Seems like if the call goes to the wrong County, it could take a while that one may not have, before the emergency peeps were on the scene, especially if one wasn't able to explain the entire screwed up zipcode story to the 911 operator.

I don't think there is much problem with the 911 services. There is a fire station in Inlet Beach and it too has the 32413 zip code. We had an emergency this summer and had no problems using 911.

"911...what is your emergency and zip code?"
"Oh, you have chest pains and you live in South Walton, but you have a Panama City Zip Code? My goodness, you must feel awful!!....and that chest pain thingie probably smarts a bit too."
