Who wants to have tea with the Queen when you can go to the Gnome Reserve?

I haven't told Merman this is where he's driving me. He'll think turning 50 has unhinged me. :rolling:

Maybe if I promise to buy him a beer here

he'll be agreeable.

So does my mother -- she just didn't know she was there.

My sister had business in the UK and took Mom along for a vacation. When they got back, Mom said, "I had a great time in Italy." I said, "Mom, I didn't know you went to Italy, too. I just thought you went to England and Ireland." She said, "Italy, Ireland. I get them mixed up. They both start with an I.":yikes:

She did enjoy the trip though.

Well, they are both Catholic countries.

cp, we're off on Monday! I did a trial run loading up the suitcases and it all fit. No small chore since we're doing carry-on because of a tight connection. I did so much ironing today I thought my middle name was Mango. I still don't know how I did it. Oh, wait, I know how I did it. I'm wearing my whole wardrobe on my body when I get on the plane. Beats folding and packing all that stuff. :floor:

I even ironed my pajamas today so they would fold really really flat in my suitcase. Now that's pathetic (but it worked). ;-)

I hate ocean plane trips worse than anything because a certain someone keeps flying all his business travel on different airlines every time and as result he never accumulates any good mileage, so the frequent flyer miles we cashed in to get us to the UK are for cattle class. NOT very comfortable no matter which way you cut it. Maybe when I'm 60 or 70 or 80 years old I can go first class.

Someone told me very recently that an upgrade on British Airways is not very expensive at all. He said that he doesn't go first class (with the beds,) but that business class has much more legroom. (But I don't know if you're even flying B.A.--?)

p.s. That's some pretty impressive packing!

That' exactly what our doctor/friend said!

Have a funn and safe trip!

And happy birthday! One of my best friends here is celebrating her 60th. As a birthday present her husband took her and two of their children, spouse, 1 grandchild, and one of the son's girlfriends for a month in Florence. (The other son couldn't come because his wife has just had a baby). Her son gave the girlfriend a ring in Florence and asked her to marry him. So romantic! She sends me a "tome" every day about what they do and what they eat. I am in Firenza vicariously through her.:D
