Halloween is my favorite holiday and I have seen on the board that others love it to.

Do you know of a great ghost story?
Have you been told one?

I know many people believe in angels.

Have you ever been helped by an angel?

Oh yeah, I've been helped by angels, several times. They saved my daughter's legs, probably life, one time when they gave me superhuman power to chase my Honda Prelude thru the daycare driveway and push my daughter back in to her seat just as the door slammed closed when the passenger side of my car slid down the rear bumper of another car, slamming the door, my then 4 yr old, was trying to jump out of, because she was scared to death when the car started and drove when I left my keys in the ignition and had buckled her in and was walking around the car to get in . I think the angels mighta kept others inside too as no one else was in the parking area.Thank God.

She said she was tryin' to turn the radio on and it just started going. I had shut the car off but left the keys in the ignition and ran in and got her. I put her in the passenger side, buckled her up and was about to walk around and get in my side when I heard the ignition turn over and watched my car take off with my child in it. Then watched her open the door and try to jump out just as my car was approaching another perpindicularly parked car that was about to slam her in the door and wedge her body between two cars. At that time I obviously  did not realize how dangerous it was to leave the car in first gear especially with a kid and a key in the ignition even for one second while you put them in.  The car stopped because of a huge tree in front of it, after sliding its side down the other cars bumper and nearly crushing my little gull. The door slammed shut the second I got her pushed back in to the seat then hit the tree and stopped with its side still up against the other cars bumper. I had put her seat belt on. I sorta didn't even want to tell the story as it scares the sheeet out of me and makes me look like a bad momma. I guess were safe now to tell it since the DHS can't get her ;-) now that she's grown, 22. It coulda been more than her legs hangin' out if her seat belt wasn't on cause she was 'leavin' ship'. Poor baby. We were both so scared. It was Halloween afternoon. I will never forget. I thanked Jesus a gazillion times:bow: and we both shook all the way home and half the night too and everytime I talk about it.
Note to self and others with manual transmissions, not even one second leave the key in with a kid or anyone in the car, and don't leave it in first gear, for God's sake.   Sorry, about the oh so lengthy post. As you can tell, I talk too much, esp. when nouvus. ;-)

Hubba just got up and when he saw me here again exclaimed," You gotta get a grip on that message board stuff. " Ut-oh. Chongo. :D  Grayt ideas sometimes and I  him dearly but, tee hee, "He's not the boss of me.":funn:  I better go get some baseboards painted. Later, taters.

you are right about halloween in sowal LW! it's truly one of our favorite times of year. we get to dress up in all kinds of silly costumes, walk around seaside with friends and family, kids enjoy their treats while adults enjoy their witches brew cocktails. Last year there was a wonderful halloween night at Camp Helen with awesome ghost stories. This year I've heard of haunted houses but can't remember where - we need to post these!

plenty of ghosts around on halloween, and our children are all little angels even if they happen to be dressed as darth vader!

Rapunzy and I lived in a very haunted house in New Orleans. We had two experiences of note. First, one night we were vegging out on the couch and we clearly heard the sound of distinct footsteps on our staircase...very loud and clear, and nobody but us was home. Another day I was downstairs by myself and upstairs there was the distinct sound of somebody running up and down the hallway. Again, nobody home but me. I went up the stairs to see what was going on, and when I got to about halfway up I had this bizarre pins and needles sensation come over my skin and I felt really spooked. I didn't see anything though. Rapunzy's brother said he saw a female ghost one night when he was in bed there!

The Ghost of Bellamy Bridge

Few Florida legends have enjoyed either
the longevity or popularity of Jackson
County's tale of the "Ghost of Bellamy
Bridge." The story has been featured in
books, websites, magazines, newspapers
and even television and is so intertwined in
the folklore of the Northwest Florida County
that it is extremely difficult to separate fact
from fiction.

There are several versions of the legend,
but the most repeated holds that the ghost
is that of Elizabeth Jane Bellamy. The
young bride of one of Florida's most
prominent early settlers, Elizabeth is said
to have died in a tragic wedding night fire.

But there are some who say the story does
not end there. For decades, local residents
have claimed that Elizabeth's restless spirit
roams the swamps around Bellamy
Bridge, searching for her lost love.

If it sounds like something from a romance
novel, there may be a very good reason!
Follow the link to learn what
historian and journalist Dale Cox
discovered when he researched the true
story of the Ghost of Bellamy Bridge.

Same feeling as I read this...or chills...either way, spooky. How long did you live there and how old was the house?

My angel story started a few years ago. I was in my business House of Angels and a former Miss America came in . She was so sweet and said she was going to be the host of a new show about angels. She asks me if I would be interested in helping with researching angel stories. I was thrilled to work on this project. I met the producer and he was such a cool man. We started collecting stories and the show was moving along. He was going to come down to Florida to film some of the stories. Then one day a young couple came into the shop and told me the most amazing one I ever heard. The woman, when she was a little younger had an abortion. One day in a mall she decided that she was going to kill herself. She sat on a bench in the mall and a old black man walked up. She opened up to this stranger and he listened. He changed her life that day. This story next is her husbands story and then mine. More soon!

Great stories everyone. I have had so many angel and ghost experiences....just can't bring myself to share right now maybe a little later. I will say I have been protected many many times by three very tall and most beautiful angels. New Orleans, like Skunky mentioned, does seem to bring out both ghosts and angels.... a lot of them!

The second part of the story begins with the husband. A couple months before they met each other. He loved nature and wildlife. He was reading a magazine about the outdoors and read an article about a bear. This story told about a man and his son being saved from this bear by a old black man. This story stayed with the husband. He just could not stop thinking about this old man and did not know why. Then he met this pretty girl and they really hit it off. After they married, she told him how she had almost committed suicide and the old man had saved her. He told her about the bear story, and how it had crossed his mind many times. This couple both cried when they told me this story....Next my part in the story.

I've had a few experiences. When I was living in Clarksville, TN with my then first husband we were sharing a trailer with my husband's oldest sister and her husband and daughter and his brother. We were sitting in the living room around the coffee table and there was a small saucer on the table and it broke clean into just laying there on the table. But that is not the best. My first husband and I had just gone to bed and I had been laying on my stomach and turned over and there in the corner of the door stood this man glaring at me. I will never forget that. He had this horrible evil look on his face and was there about 30 seconds and then vanished backward and disappeared through the door. And I've even seen things in this house we are in now, twice. My son was still living here at the time, one night I saw what I thought was him coming out of his room going into the bathroom in the hall. I got out of bed and went out in the hall to see what he was up for and there was no one in the bathroom, I went to his room and opened the door and he was sound asleep in the bed. And there was one other night I was in bed about a year ago, my son had been out of the house for about 5 years, I was laying there on my back and had not gone to sleep yet, but looked toward the door and this young man was standing in the door looking at me for a few seconds, then he turned and disappeared. Talking about freaky and creepy. It takes me a while to go to sleep.

I've also had many wonderful Angel experiences (one right on the square in Seaside this spring) ... but I'm better at sharing these experiences in person. It's quite challenging to put "other worldly" experiences into the written word.

Well NoHall, I sit many nights in bed and read ghost stories before going to bed. They don't keep me awake. When I have trouble sleeping is when I don't read and go to bed, I lay there for about an hour or an hour and a half. Reading any kind of book in bed makes me sleepy enough to where I can go to sleep easy.

I have also seen these ghosts too.

One turned my monitor on and off, the other sent pop up messages, and the other opened and closed my CD disk drive.
