Today is my birthday. The 37th to be exact. That number isn't significant to me other than letting me know just how many revolutions of the earth to which I have been a witness.

Great site. As I was reading your blog..I thought to myself how wonderful it would be to be able to do what you are doing in Sri Lanka. Well, not just Sri Lanka, but many, many places that need your help. To be able to devote your time to what you love. How rewarding it must be. Kudos to you for what you do!!!!!!

Kathy, if that is something which interests you then you must give yourself the best gift anyone can give themselves and do that which you most want to do. Without exception, everyone I've ever met with a similar experience feels the way I do when it's over; you receive far more than you could have possibly given.

There are quite a few organizations now which give the inexperienced an opportunity to take a "volunteer vacation." I wouldn't recommend the one I joined the first time, so I won't. If it has the initials GC, stay away. If not for some determined individuals in our group, it would have been a disappointing effort.

Anyway, I harp on about going because the rewards are inexpressible and if you have the slightest interest to help others, especially those who don't expect help, you will be forever changed.

I'm kinda an all or none type person and have the tendency to go overboard, but give yourself this gift only you can give. I'll help you pack! ;-)

Now to cap off the perfect day with some Monday Night Football!
