We have guest in town and I just heard on the news that there is red tide in the area. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it safe to go down on the beach as long as you don't get in the water??

Officials said that as of late yesterday anway, the red tide is not a problem for South Walton.
Tests turned up negative for the organism as of last test date on Oct. 2.

I was at the beach yesterday and had no problems. My son even went in the water and didnt have any ill effects. I also read that the problem is all but gone to the east of Walton County.
