today my neighbor and good friend of 27 years passed away. Dear Ms Arleathia was 97 years young.She didn't come to the door when her ride came to take her to church. They found her in her bed. Dang,she just got glasses a couple of years ago and was looking forward to each new day.
As both of us live alone, I sometimes ask her what she did when she got lonly,her response,Well I just spit my teeth out and sing!!!!
She has been holding down the corner of my road for 77 years!!Never even drove a car.Can you picture all she saw change in her life?From horse and buggy to the space age?
Just yesterday around 5:00 pm I saw her, she was at her door and waved big as I passed by, I wish I had gotton that last hug from her, instead I waved and yelled back hello, and was off to watch the game with a friend.

Yes, great tribute to Ms. Arleathia, cp. Your memories of Ms. Arleathia remind me of my favorite obituary -- "She died unexpected in her sleep at age 96" was what it said. We all hope we can get to that age with a strong enough body and mind -- it's wonderful that she happily waved to you just hours earlier. She sounded like a very good woman with some very good friends, including you. May she rest in peace.

I still can't believe I can't pick up the phone or walk down and talk with her. No matter where life took me when I rounded that corner,she was there waiting with open arms and a huge smile.

Well, today is the day of Ms Arleatha's funeral. I've been ask to say a few words as her long time friend and neighbor. Ya'll pray I don't mess up this wonderful lady's service.

we should all have such a loving send off. there was standing room only, I got there at 1:30 and there were few seats left,my son had to stand, it began at 2:30 and Ididn't walk outof the church to cross over to the grave side service until 5:30pm !!! She had over 100 grandchildren and 76 greats and 30 something great greats.
