(Not Miss Kitty.)
I don't think I've told y'all about the Jesus Cat, and I'm not going to tell it right now. He was half of a matched set I brought from Nashville, Hoot & Anny.
Anny was raptured a couple of years ago--disappeared without a trace one Sunday morning. This morning Hoot didn't come to breakfast. He always comes to breakfast. He's just gone. He is 13 years old, but he hasn't been sick lately. He raced me across the yard in the last couple of weeks, and has been murdering small animals recently. He doesn't play in the street. I figured it was a larger animal or some sort of poisoning.
How do animals (especially wild animals, like cats) tear us up so badly? I feel like I failed them somehow.
p.s. His obituary is in my blogs. I need a nap.

He and his sister were standard shorthaired tabby cats. He was gray and brown with a little bit of black.
I was pretty impressed with how he and Anny would both stay away from cars. They never went near the road. He would sleep in the shade under dad's truck sometimes, and on the top of my car (it's convertible; he thought it was his own hammock) but he always skedaddled when anyone got in the car.
Thank y'all. I was going to go back to work, but every time I walk outside I end up searching for him again.

Dad found him in the shrubbery tonight. (Yes, we had both looked for him there, multiple times.) He's not well; we're going to the vet in the morning.

I went to visit him this afternoon. I told the staff to be sure to allow him some quiet time to pray. They already think I'm nuts, anyway.
Meanwhile, the back of my car got hit this morning. At least it didn't hurt my SoWal sticker.
As ridiculously Pollyanna-ish as it may sound, I can't help but think that it takes a day like today to make me realize how good all my other days are. I have a lot to be thankful for...
