This morning on the old commute I saw a coyote on HWY 98 near Bay Drive and in Navarre, believe it or not, a black bear!

Grace, I've learned to avert my eyes when it comes to your 'tars. The last one gave me nighmares (not the person, but the depiction!) and this one is just disturbing!

Black bears and coyotes. Pshaw. That's normal around here!

Skunky about 10 or so years ago there was a big 'ole black bear that used to get in the dumpster at the restaurant where the Old Florida Fish House is now located.

I saw a huge coyote a bit west of Western Lake one night driving in a couple of months ago. I have also seen deer around that area at night.

FFF saw a coyote in Seacrest close to Camp Creek Lake Golf Course during broad daylight just walking across the street looking at traffic like it knew what it was doing this past weekend.

One night a few years ago FFF and I were driving down to the beach and along 331 we counted over 30 deer! We almost hit two.....we still don't know how we missed them.

I rarely ever drive to the beach at night down 331 that I don't see at least two deer.

What happened with the bear? It was on the radio as atraffic issue when I was heading to work and there were conflicting reports between a bear roadkill and someone saying the little bear looked so cute that they thought it has been tranquilized.

Isn't it a rough life when our "daily commutes" involve bears, coyotes, deer, and blue herons instead of gridlock!

The bear was laying down in the neutral ground, it didn't look bloody. If somebody hit it, their car is seriously messed up.

Oh, I hope it didn't get hit by a car. :(

Yes the bear in Navarre did get hit and was dead. I saw 2 dead coyotes on 98 between Peach Creek and Camp Creek a few days ago.

That sucks. It wasn't a cub, by any means...somebody has a big dent, if not a mangled grill:angry:

Don't you just love that the wildlife around here can cross the road better than most tourists.

Clicking on the title I thought I was going to see pics or or perhaps a vid clip from some of the local nightlife spots. Critters is certainly an apt description for some.

Heck, we were tailgating in the middle of the Georgia Tech campus in downtown Atlanta, and a fox ran through the parking lot and within a couple of feet of my husband who was grilling bratwurst. It then ran through an area of tailgaters, each group having a flat panel TV with a big battery and a portable satellite receiver for watching the other games on TV. Did the fox want to watch TV or was it attracted to the smell of brats cooking?:idontno::floor:

There used to be TONS of foxes around here. But one year there was a bad outbreak of rabies among them and raccoons and pretty much wiped all the foxes out. There were so many that you couldnt walk around Seaside without encountering them. But then the rabies hit and they started attacking people on bikes in Seaside. I used to regularly see a really dark, almost black one off Bay Drive. But I havent even seen one around Bay Drive in years..

Poor bear. :( Of course they are ending up in residential areas and busy areas as a lot of their own habitat is constantly being destroyed because of development. They have no where to go that is their own, not many places anyway. Everyone knows how 98 is.
