Now that Gore has been honored with a Nobel Peace Prize, will the pressure become too intense for him to avoid getting in the race ? I, for one, hope he makes the plunge.

As former President Jimmy Carter said today in a phone interview with the Today Show, "An award well deserved." And when asked if Gore would be running, Carter reminded all about the presidential popular vote result of 2000.
George Bush: 50,460,110
Al Gore: 51,003,926

Thank you Al Gore!
Let's hear it for one great American that the rest of the world is paying attention to!

FOX NEWS? ... Are they still on the air? :-?

Well at least in the last seven or eight years Al has set the groundwork to help preserve human and animal life, and the respect dignity they should be accorded....that is more than we can say for the Dan Quayle in cowboy boots sitting in the oval office and his paranoid, direct boss, Dick Cheney!

God I am glad the country is starting to move back to the center....

He is donating his portion of the prize ( $750K ) to the organization that studies climate changes. Pretty comendable I think !:clap::clap:

I didn't watch Fox News today, but I did just hear the BBC world news played on the local NPR affiliate. They aired an interview with a history professor at a university (I don't remember where) who was billed as the authority on Nobel the man and the award. He opined that Nobel would be upset that his award has been given to groups the last few years instead of individuals (no, Gore did not win the Nobel peace prize alone, he did so in conjunction with the famed UN climate panel). He threw out the name of a Finn who he thought would fit the award criteria better than this year's winners. I also found it interesting that this professor was largely the prime mover behind Jimmy Carter getting the award, and he said it required an intense 10 year lobbying effort to accomplish this. I think this year's winners were nominated at most two years ago. Hmmm.

He would have my support if he ran, but my gut tells me this isn't likely.

I think Gore has resigned himself to the elder statesman category and is happy bringing attention to issues that matter to him from outside the sphere of public office.

He has been greatly vindicated in his views however; I try very hard not to dwell on the 'what if' he had been in the White House the past 7 years.

I'm also guessing he understands that the mess Bush has created will take more than the next 2 Presidential terms to fix, and why go down in history as Bush's clean-up guy?

That's what I heard on the news (I forget which network). Some talking heads were saying that most people wouldn't vote for an overweight person.:idontno: Of course, Hillary's butt is so big that she has to turn sideways to walk through a doorway (I should talk ).

I think he's watched Jimmy Carter do so well outside of the office and it's a given that the party will nominate Hillary! why run? set back and pull a Cheney or Rice. be in a huge job that can get some stuff done without the back lash of being Pres. I agree that he (if he ran) would be known as the clean up guy for Bush and that would/could be bad as well! I think he's to close to the Clinton's overall and that someone has most likely whispered in his ear..."don't worry we will take care of you"!
kudo's to him none the less.
