Driving back to Pensacola airport we hit torrential rains and massive flooding. I didn't realize a compact car turns into an Ark fortunately and we floated through Florosa onto drier land.
Whoever engineered that part of 98 needs a bonk on the head.
No drainage there.

There was a bad tornado in Pensacola that swept through.

On the plane, we heard a huge BOOM noise and the whole plane lit up!
Turns out we either got struck by lightning or it was close. Scared the jeebies out of everyone. :yikes:
Then we looked out the window and there was another plane very close.

But I got home and on time.

...did you scream? Mr. K's plane was either struck or next to a bolt on his way in. I almost passed out just hearing it. He said he would have lost an arm if I was on that plane. And, yes...people screamed!

Have you noticed y'all always have an adventure flying home? Glad you made it safely...we picked the best weekend for the hodown!!!!

As we left work last night the sky looked very eerie.....big rolling dark clouds that were lit from behind....and windy! Good Lawd! Almost blew my little bug off the road! Somtime in the wee small hours today I thought lightning hit the house! :yikes: There was a huge boom/crash/pow! :yikes: Did not hear the tornado siren so I went back to sleep. Hope everyone else made it through the night okay.

I saw video footage of that tornado on the web. You could hear the suction noise from it sucking up debris. Sounded really eery and was awfully dark. My mom said that she thought there were two tornadoes in Florida, she says they said something about West Point, MS, Pensacola, FL and Panama City, FL. But I went on Panama City's Channel 7 website and it mentioned nothing other than the Pensacola tornado. It hit a church that had an attached daycare. Thank goodness no one was hurt, especially the little ones. There was very rough weather here last night, I think there must have been a tornado in Arkansas last night just across the river. The air here has felt very unstable since Wednesday. We get lucky here in Memphis and have yet to actually see a tornado.

I woke up and asked MANgo what happened to the goodie cart. :idontno:
Then looked out the window and said "Look babe, I can see people in the other plane!" Wonder if their goodie cart fell too."

MANgo just patted me on the head, and said go back to sleep dear, we'll be in Kansas soon.

Me: Ok. Get me some extra cookies.

According to the full screen radar on our desktop, all of the stuff we had last night, a big system of red and yellow, appears to be right over the entire area from around New Orleans area over as far as PC Beach, and back up into Central and Southern Alabama and a little portion of Georgia. Is it storming there right now?

I am so sorry for the nail biting flights. I would have had a panic attack, I'm sure. I pulled over on the way to school yesterday before Western Lake - I couldn't see and it was blowing so hard, we waited for about 10 minutes - kids were not happy they were going to be late but I was not going end up in the lake!!

Today it is heavy rain again, although not as heavy as yesterday.

I'm glad everybody is okay. I was at lunch with professors/friends yesterday and saw all the chaos in Florida on t.v.

I love to fly--I'm like a little kid about it. I sit with my face glued to the window so that I can see everything. But getting hit by lightening and doing a large, commercial flyby?-- that's No Funn.:eek:

We are having, um, steady heavy humidity here. I get p!$$ed off when it looks like rain, but it doesn't even produce a good puddle in my driveway. :bang:

Mango, glad you made it home safe!!!! I have a love to fly hate to fly relationship! Love to get to my destination quick but hate take offs, landings, and then any bad weather of course. We had a rather scary storm about 2am. I thought trees would be down this morning for sure but everything's fine thank goodness.
