What was your best day ever?

Bet most of you will say it was on the beach--mine was.
My son, daughter and daughter's best friend and I went to the beach early--around 9. Hubby brought Corona at noon. Played Yahtzee all afternoon, drank, swam, walked on the beach (weather was perfect), got sunburned. It was just one of those rare days after your children grow up that you get to spend some quality time with them. I'll never be able to re-capture it, but it remains the best day ever! :D

a long and lazy day at the beach with beer and loved ones (in that order) sounds like the best of days.

I'll have to think on that one. It's hard to decide such a day... hmmmmmmm...

The days I had my two babies. I love watching them grow up (so far, so good).

I'd have to agree with Paula but I would say one of the days we had this past August would be a close second. Perfect weather, white fluffy sand, clear water, family and excellent food...all in one perfect day.

Yesterday was pretty good. I wonder if today will surpass it?

One's best day should not be a day from the past. Memories are great to have, but so much potential lies in today and the future.

Agreed. And my daughters have given me joy over and over and over again and they're still young -- we still get to see the rest of middle school, high school, college (we hope), and the rest of their lives visiting us, bringing new people to our family, exposing us to different parts of the world through their eyes, etc.

I definitely don't live my life through the girls (I have a job I truly enjoy, the cottages in SoWal are fantastic with or without the girls, I get to the beach by myself and with friends often enough, I spend lots of time on this message board, I have great friends locally, lots of hobbies, I travel a little bit for work, and I like time alone -- my older daughter loves it that I "have a life" so I don't get overly involved in her's) but when all is said and done, my greatest and deepest moments are connected to them, past, present and future. I'm part Italian so that probably explains it to some degree!

That sounds like a nice balance Paula. It's hard to accomplish and I salute you! :clap_1:

You know, I don't think I could say I've ever had "best days ever." More like best moments ever. Sometimes they're fleeting moments, sometimes moments that last an evening or an afternoon or morning...but all in all, my life seems to be filled with little snippets of happiness that strike anywhere, any time.

Top favorites, though (long running theme for me) are evenings spent outdoors with a beautiful moonlit night and soft weather and a handsome husband at my side (and a bottle of wine and a full stomach doesn't hurt, either)--could be Paris, could be the Panhandle--it's all as wonderful to me. Nights like that stick in my mind long after they're done.

I love to travel so a lot of my 'best days' come from that.
I get a lot of pleasure from both looking back and looking forward.
But I think I am also pretty good at enjoying each day for what it is.
Summer before last we took a family trip around southwest France; it was *wonderful* hanging out at the beach in Collioure by the old tower, our boys wrestling around in the water, the four of us going out for delicious meals every night.
But late this afternoon I will be walking the dogs after work. The light will be that gorgeous September gold. It will be perfect.

I would have to agree that I dont know if I've had a best day ever, but I do have lots of "moments" that may have lasted 5 seconds or 5 hours that stand out. One of them that stands out is a few years ago I didnt think I would be able to make it to NY for Thanksgiving which would have been the first time in my life I had not eaten with my parents on that day. So they flew up to my sisters in Albany and I ended up getting a ticket last minute even though I couldnt afford it, and arrived 1 hour before dinner. The look on my fathers face when I walked through the door is burned in my mind forever. He was so excited to have me there that he cried a little. That was an amazing feeling.

I need to change my signiture, I will be 28 going on 17 next Friday!

The best day of my life was driving from Pittsburgh to South Walton county with my Mom, sister, four cats and everything we owned in a Buick LeSabre. One of the cats cried the whole way, we had no jobs and had never seen the place we were moving into but it was the beginning of a new era of best days. I like to say that on that day we hit the life lottery.
