I'm curious, how long does it normally take to receive your car title after paying off your vehicle? It has been 5 months since our car was paid off. May 10th of this year. Still no car title. I called the dealership and they gave me the phone number of Honda Financial Services and I've tried calling them several times and just get a recording asking you to leave a message.
I wouldn't think you would have to leave a message at a place like Honda Financial Services. That doesn't sound like I was given the correct number.
Can you apply for and receive your own title by mail without waiting on the one from the dealership?

I believe I have typically received the titles within 30 days.

Thanks SJ. Cannot figure out why they are holding ours and not sending it. This really sucks.

A question, from experience...have you moved during the time you have owned this vehicle?
I have a very long story that should accompany this question, but I'm too tired to type it.

No, we haven't moved. Have been in this house since 1994. I am going to attempt to call them again tomorrow.

It shouldn't take that long LadyD..good luck getting through to someone!

Well, we didn't think much after just a couple of months. But when it extended beyond that, we started wondering about it and tried to contact them twice, to no avail. So hopefully I can get in touch with someone by phone this time and find out what the holdup is.

They may not have filed a satisfaction, or the title was lost. You can check with DMV to see the title status, and file for a duplicate for a little over 30 dollars if you wish.

We typically get ours in about 30 days...or less. You may need to go over someone's head and find out what is going on.

I used to work for a very hated financial company who's computer system was from the dark ages (see card punch technology). If a customer overpaid the loan by even a penny it sometimes got lost and wouldn't pull up in the paid (balance=$0.00) Q. Or it could be one of our great USPS sub contractors. They sent my driver's license back to the state of FL as undeliverable. Mind you it had my new address on it.

Don't give up on the baturds. Keep going up ther chain until you get someone to talk to.
Try finding out who the president of the outfit is and call him/her direct. Probably won't get through, but some ambitious VP might take the call.
PS How bout the rain here in Willie World?

Well, I finally got ahold of someone. I told the girl I spoke with that I had tried calling a couple of times before and wondered if I had been given an incorrect number before, as I ended up getting some recorder to leave a message. She told me there shouldn't have been a problem with getting through as they have several representatives. Now I know why the title has not been mailed to us, she is showing a small amount of interest still due. We've never been notified of it. And we already had paid a little over what our last payment statement had shown. Our statement showed a balance of $11,023.96 back in December 2006. A total of $11028.00 was paid to them through May 10th of this year, and showed the principal and interest balance at zero. And they still show a small amount of interest???
They are going to get it straightened out and the lady said she hoped to have the title released and to us very soon, within the next four weeks.
Seaside2, as for the rain, glad to have it. We sure have been needing it. And thank goodness we are making a dent in our rain deficit. The only thing I dislike about all the rain is that our basement constantly gets flooded when it rains heavy and all day. But it wasn't so bad this morning. I like the cooler temps though.

Lady D,
Good to hear that some progress is being made. This interest thing is a sure way for them to make excess profits (% wise).
The key to your basement problem (and many other woes) is to get the heck out of Willie World. I had a rant about that on another thread.

Any time you pay off a simple daily interest loan always call the day you are planning to write and mail the check, request a 10-day paid in full letter be mailed and pay that amount. Normally with mail and processing it should be sufficient. The other way is to add $10-$50 to the PIF amount to insure you are overpaying. Most companies will write off anything less than $25.00 unless you specifically request a refund. It's always fun to get a check back from the bank anyway.
