After BP earned around $4,000,000,000 (that's four billion) in profits last quarter, the fine of $375 million doesn't seem like a penalty.

I think their fine is equivalent to someone coming to sowal, digging a canal from the Gulf to the Intracoastal, selling waterfront lots to offset the penalties. It is nothing more than a numbers game, and if profits can be made, some people don't care what their company is doing.

I once read that if you focus on doing the right thing, good things will come your way. This applies to many aspects of life, including business, but people's stock portfolios get in the way of their conscious.

The question is, did they apologize for their actions or for getting caught? One thing that makes it look so bad is that BP is one of the only oil companies running these cute and cuddly ads about listening to people and trying to be environmentally friendly, all the while, they are sticking it to everyone, and not being so friendly to the environment, including humans.

Now that I've boycotted every single oil company, where am I supposed to buy gas? I'm too lazy to ride my bike 80 miles a day to classes...
