If you saw a UFO or a Ghost...?

...would you tell anyone? Do you think they'd believe you? Have you?

There was a report on AOL in which over 250,000 people were asked if they thought they'd ever spotted a UFO, and about 80,000 said yes.

And since it's Halloween time, I thought I'd ask if anyone's seen any ghosts.

I have seen unexplained shadows, and just typing it gives me the creeps and you would have to remind me right here on Halloween Eve.

And yes I have told many about it. The really scarey thing is when it happens, my dog whines and goes in the other room.

I've never seen either one. I did have a friend though that called me in the middle of the night one time. She said she woke up and her room was freezing cold (it was summer). And, she said when she tried to get up, "something" was holding her down. :blink:Creeped me out! I had to go pick her up so she could spend the rest of the night with me. She moved the next day.

Minnie's story reminded me of this. I had a dog that would just stop at the edge of a room and then whimper and not go in. You couldn't drag her in. She sensed something and it always gave me the willies. We used to joke and say the house was built on top of old indian burial grounds.

The weird thing is that same thing happened to me.
I didn't move, but strangely the same night there were reports of a UFO spotted in 3 towns, mine included.
The people who lived above me said they saw it too.

That explains a lot about me, it was the alien probe.

One night this past summer Philippa had to give her boyfriend a lift home and she was very tired, so she asked me to drive. The night was still, the clouds were thin and the moon was high. We were just leaving Cameron's neighborhood and there, just above the trees was this strange large whirring object with bright lights. It circled around us several times. It wasn't the shape of an airplane and it didn't look like the regular TV news helicopter either. We were stuptefied and spooked.

And I guess we must be really law-abiding, too, because what we saw was a police search helicopter. Some UFO! :funn:

I do miss Mermy's stories.

I did have something eerie happen once. I was about 21 and I went shopping with a friend of mine at a church sale in a hoity toity neighborhood that had lots of designer clothing for sale. Well I bought some items, one being a blouse.
Later that summer evening I was trying to go to sleep when the room got especially cold, my closet door blew open, and that blouse fell out of the bag even though there were 2 pant suits on top of it.
I felt a strange presence in the room, almost like an anger of sorts.
I took the blouse and ran out to the garbage and left it there.

I called the church the next day and inquired about the clothing. Apparently a large donor of the clothing was the benefactor of a deceased woman's estate.

Mango Mango Mango. Feng shui!!! Remember! Feng shui for all aspects of living. (Well, not that it would have helped you since none of us knew feng shui when we were in our 20s. ;-)) But anyway...When you buy something used, it's imperative to "cleanse" the object if you don't know its provenance. Just in case you bought something that had a bad past, like items from a divorce sale or a seriously angry dead woman.

Sheesh. All this controversy about "The Blythe Spirit" and all they had to do was ask you about it and you'd have set them straight.

I think she did both to pumpkins AND watermelons. :D No good Fyl stories lately since she has her nose to the grindstone at Purdue. The last gem of the day was when she told me, after I'd nagged her about getting an itsy-bitzy little job at school to give her some extra mad money, the following:

"Mama, if you want me to be your trophy daughter and get straight As for you, I can't have a job. I need all my time for studying."

The worse part was that she wasn't even being sarcastic. And that it sounded like a warning. :yikes:

Beam me up, Scotty.

Seen a ghost? No. One of our local colleges has a resident "gone but not departed."

Read here, and "hear" her here. And here's one more.

The newest theories say that, 1) She is not the ghost of Agnes Galloway, who did not hang herself at Brenau, but rather died of TB at her home in North Carolina, and 2) "she" is really 3 entities, 2 females and a male. Even so, I'm gonna still call her Agnes because it's simpler.

I haven't seen her, but I believe I've been around her. I knew that she didn't like people to be in Pearce Auditorium after midnight, but I wasn't sure how early she got up. I went in to practice for a recital early one morning this summer when I was teaching there, and after a few peaceful minutes I just got a distinct feeling that I wasn't welcome and the lights were no longer bright enough to show me what I was doing. (She's infamous for playing with the lights.)

We always tell the kids to be respectful of her, but some little clown has to make fun of her and something usually gets broken. Lights fall or malfunction. A visiting vocalist said something about her during warmups before a performance and when she came out, she wasn't able to sing. Nothing came out.

The odd thing about her is that if she messes with you, she usually responds positively if you speak to her nicely. I've heard many stories where things were inexplicably not working (or going haywire) and someone will look out to the balcony and say, "Agnes, we're having a show. We'll be finished soon. Can you stop?" and all goes well...

The other one I haven't seen is 7 blocks away at our library. I had forgotten about her until I went on a Ghost Walk on Saturday. She likes to use the elevator and the sinks, and will occasionally move books around and touch people. I remember not wanting to use the elevator when I was a kid because it went up and down by itself with no one in it.

On the Ghost Walk I also heard about a whole other batch. Gainesville has two of the deadliest tornadoes on record. In 1936, two F5s merged just after the start of the business day on the Gainesville square, killing more than 200 people. In 1903, another one hit just southeast of there at the Gainesville (Cotton) Mill. It's hard to find the numbers on that one, obviously, but they told us on the Ghost Walk that the roof of the 5-story mill was lifted straight up, and the walls of the 5th floor were completely blown out. The walls of the 4th floor were partially destroyed, tipping the giant wood floor above at a 45-degree angle. (Picture. You can see the floor--that's not the roof!) The children who were working there were dumped 40 feet to the ground below, followed by the machinery. The roof then fell on them. 88 children and workers died that day.

The mill was repaired, and now it's a storage facility. (As in document storage and that sort of thing.) People are very rarely on the 4th and 5th floors, and those who go do go up are followed around. A couple of months ago, the new receptionist went outside to smoke. Because it's a secure facility, the doors stay locked. She said that she watched the doorknob turn, and then a hand came through the door up to the elbow. :yikes:

On that note, nighty-nite!

I have always thought (and did tell a couple of people) that A house that I lived in years ago in Seagrove had a the ghost of an elderly man. I would be sitting in the living room and see a man with a hat walking thru the kitchen out of my peripheral vision but didnt see anything when I looked directly in that direction. A few years after we moved a local published a book that had a OLD picture of what looked like that house before it was remodeled and an old man with the same type of hat was in it.:creepy:

OK - confession time. My Mother in law came to visit me about a year after she was dead. She sat at the end of the bed and smiled at me. She had alzheimers for years and had been a sad - angry person - it was very comforting to see her smile. I told my family and they promptly gave me ghost DVD's for Christmas. Anyone want to watch Ghostbusters or Ghost etc - contact me - I think I have them all.
