Thanksgiving Day, Driving to Mt. Pleasant, Alabama. It is between Enterprise and Geneva, Alabama or BFE. Menu- More southern food than you can imagine and a sinful amount of desserts. Oh and lots of drama with all the cousins....

Thanksgiving weekend, Sat morning breakfast with Santa at Rosemary Beach and then the Christmas parade that afternoon. Sat night??? WHo knows????

This will be the first Thanksgiving since losing my Dad in June, so my Mom really did not want to be home. So we have rented a 5 bedroom cabin in the Smokies, for myself, my daughter, my younger brother, older brother with SIL, and 2 nieces and Mom and 3 dogs. Hubbie has to work, not sure whether to feel sorry for him or not.

Menu: turkey, cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes with marshmallow topping, brocolli/rice casserole, sweet peas, baked apples, yeast rolls, pear/lime jello salad, chess pie, chocolate fudge pie, lemon ice box pie, chocolate cake and assorted snacks and cookies including my daughters baked cheese and onion tip.

Heavenly cabin, Minnie! Looks so relaxing.

I'm cooking. The regular stuff--turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole--beyond that, I haven't decided. I always try to make some new, different stuff...will report back.

Thanks everyone, I know we will be really missing my Dad, as he loved the Mountains and family get togethers but this will be distraction for Mom.

Nice thing about the cabin is it is 3 levels, the loft bedroom with sitting area and great view, and the main level with huge deck and lower level with 2 bedrooms and game room and large deck with hot tub. So we have plenty of room to spread out and seperate the dogs if necessary or people.

I will post a trip report afterwards.

Minnie, we did the same thing for the first Thanksgiving after my Dad died. Loaded up the car and went to Williamsburg with my Mom. It was one of the best Thanksgivings ever- y'all may surprise yourself. Changing up the routine makes all the difference and kids having a good time in your midst is always helpful and distracting.

Like the cabin idea. We have always wanted to do Thanksgiving at the beach, but too much family.

My girls will be home:clap::clap::biggrin: We go to my sister's and enjoy WAY too much food. Then we make gingerbread houses, and this year make create Christmas cards. I have gotten interested in card making with stamps, so it will be an adventure. In the evening we eat leftovers...yum!!

On Friday put up the tree and maybe shop. We are planning a family night with improve at a comedy club in Nashville. I just enjoy having my family home. At this stage we all still enjoy each other.:D

It was actually ok. I only ate the tur part though. Not a big duck fan. Everyone else in the family seemed to enjoy it.

You ate the Tur, others ate the Duck, what past is the -EN? Or do we not want to know?

Everyone besides myself and Camden, dined on the rest of it. They said it was quite tasty. I stood by my decision to only have the tur. The 'EN consisted of chicken and sausage. We have plenty left. I'll send you some.

Going to the beach with the men I love....They cook for me...So glad to have moved out of the stage of life when holidays are spent cooking, cleaning and trying to make conversation with people I have nothing in common with.....I love it...I feel so decadent. Happy Thanksgiving to all....
