Pics from Blue Angels weekend...

So, here's a mini report from the weekend. I needed some sort of feeble excuse to put 700 more miles on my motorcycle so the Blue's final show sounded like a great idea. Well...that and the fact that we have no water in Atlanta, and I really needed to wash the Goldwing...

Anyway...I got down here with enough daylight to wash the bike and still made it to the beach for some killer sunset shots. Here's a sampling...

This morning I headed to Pensacola. I knew that we (Delta) were going to have our "Pink Plane" there...

...but little did I know that I was going to wind up working the show putting kids into the engine intake for pictures. The great thing is that we raised several thousand dollars that will go towards cancer research and raising awareness about breast cancer. It was a good day.

Being able to get a high vantage point put me in a great spot for pictures. Here's a sampling of the show...

The Jet Truck...yes, it has afterburners!

A couple shots of the Angels...

This may be my favorite shot of the day...

This was the missing man formation in tribute to Blue Angel #6 who they lost just a short time ago. They still don't know what happened...

A look out of the roof of the C5 Galaxy...

Take a look at the rest of the pics here!

How was the traffic, crowds . . . any advice on next time?

Traffic was a non issue going to the show. I left Santa Rosa at 8:00 and pulled into my parking place just before 10:00, and that included a breakfast and gas stop.

The crowd was huge, but the space they open up for the show is so expansive that you never feel crowded. Some of the lines to go inside the airplanes got a little long. I'm guessing about 10 minutes to get into our airplane, but still, that's not bad. Food lines didn't look bad either.

The only time I hit any traffic was leaving. Since I worked I didn't leave until close to two hours after the show was over. Traffic got a little bottled up coming out of the base, but once I turned off of the main road on to 292 it opened right up.

All in all...a great...sorry...Grayt show!
