Stuck in Traffic? Try This Device!

If you feel like zipping through traffic in rush hour, slap one of these magnetic signs on the back of your car:

CAUTION STUDENT DRIVER

My sixteen year old is driving on a permit so we got one of these beauties. (Trust me; the world needs to be warned.) It's amazing, absolutely amazing, the way traffic clears a wide path for you when you have one of those things!!! Everyone gives us a really wide berth and we zip, zip, zip through traffic like a knife through water. Wonderful!

One of my girlfriends has one too, for her daughter, and she forgot to take it off the car when she went to work downtown. She noticed when she got to her office that she shaved 13 minutes off her commute time. She also noticed that everyone was SO nice about letting her change lanes, and she wondered why. Heheh. A look at the back of her car explained why!

That's hysterical! I remember back in the day when my daddy was teaching me to drive (with two feet no less!)...he would reach in the backseat and put on the hard hat he used on jobsites!!! Now that was a confidence builder! I actually remember laughing...he is that funny!

My dad learned to drive in a cemetery. His dad told him he can't kill anyone that's already dead.

What I remember about driving with my father was him groaning "you're going to rip out the clutch you're going to rip out the clutch" every five minutes. Almost came close to it a few times, got to admit! My kids don't even know what a clutch is.

I still drive a clutch everyday - I love it. My son learned on it and when he bought his first car he bought on too. Most people hate them - but I love it
It is probably a control thing!!!!

I had the same driving lesson/screamathon! Yes- learning the clutch. And the whiplash that went with it. The lessons abruptly stopped when my dad was showing me how to pump gas and spilled gas all over the crotch of his pants. I learned how to speed that day, c'ause he was yelling "DRIVE HOME!! FASTER!! After that he turned my drivers training over to our local cop, who gave me lessons on his off-duty time.

I'm going to have to find something for my kids to learn on- I think it's an important part of driver's ed to learn how to shift gears! Just so they can say they can!

My daughter's way far away from learning how to use a clutch, and my son doesn't see the point of one. Can you believe that? I tried telling him how much more fun it is when you shift for yourself.

Oh the thrill of being in a small car on a big hill, preferably one whose name starts with Por......!

I think everyone should know how to drive a stick. What happens if you're stuck somewhere and there's an emergency and that's the only thing available?

I agree, but the trouble is that stickshift is hard to find these days, especially in an SUV. Shame.

I used the same argument for the boat for years and GB finally learned how to drive it

I agree LL. BUT, there are two people who should not teach you...one is your dad, the other a boyfriend. Bringing back horrible memories. Think that was the only time my dad ever agreed with one of my boyfriends -- finally learned -- boyfriend gone (I didn't need to hear him scream at me like that, that's what dad was for!)

My folks had the best solution. They put me in a two ton pulp wood truck in the middle of our hayfield and let me figure it out for myself. I was 12. I'm not kidding.

It was hysterical. If you popped the clutch and hit the gas at the same time in second gear, you could get the front end to hop up and down like one of those Mexican Lowrider things. It was so much fun.

When I was a kid I used to beg my dad to buy some POC car and turn me loose in it on a farm. Never did though.

When I was fifteen, my dad bought me and my brother a 80's model Chevette for $300.00. It was baby blue and had no interior or wipers. We had a blast in that thing. We tried everything we could to kill it but it wouldn't die.

You have to check out a show on..... I thinks Discover or OLN or Speed can't remember but it's called Top Gear. Best car show I have ever seen. For several shows they had a Toyota P/U on there and tried everything from driving it hard to dropping it from a crain to setting it on fire and the dang thing still started up and drove off
