Please tell your kids not to listen to their ipods while riding bikes. I wiped out on the bike path today when my earplug cords fell out and went in the spokes. I ended up going over the handlebars and landed on my right side. I broke my elbow - the radial head - the part which turns your elbow, and sprained my wrist, not to mention the scrapes and bruises along the right side of my body. A hard lesson learned.
Luckily, I can still type with my left hand. My pain killer is about to kick in, so that's it for now.

Ouch! :bicycle:
You are almost as talented as me, I broke the exact same bone falling on ice! Hope you don't need surgery, just a sling!
Do your PT stretches 'cuz when it heals, your range of motion gets more limited - took me a couple years and some more trauma to stretch it back out to within 5 degrees of the other arm!

WHOA! That's awful! Take care and may that pain pill kick in quickly! Your advice is sound...I think IPODs are great, but when you can't hear what is coming up behind you or they fall into spokes...

ugggh. Sling, until I see the Dr. Friday. I guess I will find out then what needs to happpen.
A good Sam drove by in his truck and turned around to check on me. He said it was quite a spill. I was more embarrassed than wanting to admit how much it hurt. When I tried to pull the cords out with my right hand, I lost control of the bike, used my left hand to slam on the brakes and then went over the top of the handlebars.
The worst part for me is that I will have to delay my training for the Half Marathon for awhile.
Thanks scooter and Miss Kitty.

It's more comfortable if you sleep on your back, put a normal bed pillow on your chest and put your arm on top of it.
When you feel better, remember that restaurants will cut up your food for you if you ask - one less thing to deal with! (make sure you tell them it's cuz you have a broken arm though, one waiter didn't notice my sling and just thought I had presentation preferences)
Glad you got pain meds - I apparently wasn't making enough of a fuss for the ER doc so I got to treat mine w/ ibuprofen and red wine (BAD idea) while at 9,200 ft. Does NOT make for a happy xmas eve BTW!

Ouch that hurts just reading about it. So sorry and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear that. I blew out a tire once in the neighborhood looking down to dial on the cell phone and striking a rather high curb, but no ipod mishaps. I gave a 15g third gen ipod to my daughter today because my tiny flash memory mp3 player is perfect for my purposes. Did your ipod survive?? I hope you heal fast, and remember to drink extra water when on pain meds!!

But is the Ipod ok?

Pain is temporary, glory is forever and chicks dig scars. Suck it up and get back on the bike. Look on the bright side at least ya didn't get run over trying to ride on the road like all the Lance Armstrong wannabees

Ya haven't seen my scar yet. Good scar good story most of the time.

That's gotta hurt, hope you feel better.
I fell off my bike when I was a teenager. I split open my eyebrow (this is why I justify getting my eyebrows waxed due to the scar) and blood was everywhere. I stumbled to the nearest house for help and luck would have it a Foreign Exchange Student who arrived in our country 48 hours earlier answer the door. He grabbed a towel and thru the miracle of adrenaline and the ability for humans speaking different languages communicating in an emergency he was able to drive me the 2 miles home. You can imagine the look on my parents face.
Long story short, I feel that pain and my eyebrow is twitching just thinking about it right now.

I'm so sorry you're hurt! If necessary, I'll pull you along in a little red wagon for the half marathon. (We may make it all the way to Watercolor that way; I hear Fabrice is good...)
Heal up soon!
