I hung up my Carhartts today.

I'm throwing away all my worn-out long johns (except for the Under Armor for running and riding the motorcycle!). I'm cleaning out the truck, and storing my tools. I'm gonna plant whatever is still alive in my pile of plants, and toss the rest. I'll dispose or use old chemicals, and consolidate all the rest. I'm cleaning up and treating my good boots (Hop, I've still had those same ones for 14 years--no dry rot!) and tossing the not-so-good ones. Throwing out the worn work gloves and washing the others.

Does anyone know where I can have my pruners bronzed?

It was a grayt living for 8 years, but I'm tired of playing in the dirt.

(Unless I can't find a better job this summer...I might have to dig a few more holes...)

Thank you! I've had several people think I was either a hotel or a dust-ruffle supplier...

it is a cool name! You might love digging in the dirt during the summer after teaching. I always loved yard work to work out whatever. Teaching is wonderful but also draining.

Have you become a drought orphan?

Sounds to me that you have a lot of irons in a lot of fires like myself. I see you landing on your feet sooner than later...

As I understood it (of course I don't wear a hearing aid ) she already has a teaching/commander position this Monday.

Way to go NoHall, don't bronze 'em just yet you might want to brandish them at your new students. ;-)

Not a drought orphan! Ironically, I have still had more business than I could handle even since the water restrictions kicked in. Of course, I do a lot of customized service--hand pruning, deadheading, detail work...

I started on my Master's last January, and was going to have to do student teaching starting this semester. That scared the begeezus out of me, because it's a minimum of 20 hours per week in the classroom. in addition to the time I would have to spend taking classes, in addition to working for a living. But then a job opened up at the local military academy--the band director is being deployed for a minimum of 90 days. I'm taking all his classes. On top of that, the drama teacher moved away, so the principal asked if I could do both jobs and save her from hiring two part time folks. It's a very strange mixture of jobs, but I'm excited about them both. (AND I'll get paid, AND it will fulfill my requirements for one semester of student teaching!)

Hopefully, the job will either turn into a long-term position or I'll find a job in another school in the fall. Either way, I'll have to find something to do this summer, at least part time. (I teach at a fine arts camp for two weeks, which is a nice little chunk but not enough to carry me for 3 months.) I may do some gardening again, but I hope to find some theatre gigs close by. Right now I'm not worrying about it. I have every reason to believe (and not blindly!) that things work out...

(p.s. Pruners aren't a good weapon. I'll take my shovel for that.)

I hear pruning shears to the first knuckle of a finger are a good way to keep cadets in line! :yikes:

In all seriousness, I don't any of us would like to hear about you on the evening news.

Here's a clip of NoHall addressing her new cadets! :floor:

I think I'll probably stay out of the barracks, but other than that you have me pegged!

As for pruning to the first knuckle, been there/done that:
