Be careful. :yikes:I gotta call my bff in Lakeland. I can't believe the 70 car pile up started with a prescribed fire mixing with fog. :yikes:Very sad.

It rolled in thick last night. I couldn't see headlights on approaching cars until they were maybe 50 yards in front of me. Scary!

I left SoWal late this afternoon and drove from DeFuniak to Tallahassee on I-10. There must have been a HUGE burn somewhere close to the interstate thirty miles east of Marianna. The visibility at dusk was terrible and smoke continued for miles. If there had been the slightest bit of fog it would have been a disaster. I?m really surprised that the interstate was allowed to remain open.

It was a LONG drive home from Big Girl School tonight...couldn't see 20 feet in the fog, and the roads are very, very dark. We're s'posed to have nasty storms tonight, too...

Just remember folks, high beams do not help in fog. They actually make visibility worse and give a false sense of security. Fog lamps do work as they are designed for this. High beams actually just illuminate more fog.

We were driving at night on the Blue Ridge Parkway last October in heavy fog and rain. The low beams weren?t doing much good. I couldn?t read the exit signs until I was past them. I turned on the fog lights on my Subaru and everything became much clearer. I?d like to have fog lights installed on my truck.

This was my problem tonight. It was so freakin' dark on those back roads that the low beams only showed me 20 feet or so. Even though the high beams lit the fog up, it also hit the reflectors in the road another 30 feet or so further, so at least I knew if I was coming up on a nasty curve.
