I think I have found the perfect word for what I'm about to do. I have never visited Ebay. I know nothing about it, other than what I've heard and seen Jay Leno make fun of. However I know many people that swear by it, and a few that make money on it as a part time business.
I've decided to lighten my load by getting rid of nearly everything I own, and I don't live in a location that would be conducive to a yard sale. I'm going full guns in true Feng Shui fashion. Well, sort of.
Anywho, I sell drunkkenart out of my house from my website. So I can do that much. Have experience with packing and shipping. Lots. So why not take the next step? Ebay seems to me to be an online yard sale.
Anyone have experience with Ebay? I normally would have posted this in the goods and services thread, but since I spend all my time in the lounge, it seems to me to be that if it don't happen in the lounge, it just don't happen...
Maybe we need a SoWalBay?

never sold anything, bought way too much. Seems the way to go, these days. you can set up an Ebay store.

A friend just sent her link for etsy - apparently it is a site for buying and selling handmade items. She is using it for beaded jewelery.

First of all, don't know you, but read about you being in the hospital - glad you're home & feeling better!
I have sold many things on ebay and bought just as much. I mostly sell my kids clothes, have also sold a washer & dryer, an engine (pick-up only on these). I also buy things on clearance at TJMaxx, Marshall's, Nordstrom Rack, etc. and resale them. Anything & everything is for sale on there!
The ebay site is very helpful. Through Paypal & USPS you can purchase your postage & schedule pickups and you don't even have to go to the post office!!! Also, if you are shipping anything that will fit in the Flat Rate Boxes from the USPS, you can order those at no charge & they'll be delivered to you.
Anyway, I'll help in anyway that I can.

Thanks guys/gulls. I've just been to the site, and talk about an eye opener. Really a top-notch site. I'm in the middle of one of the Tutorials right now. Really impressive. I have a feeling I have found my niche in this notch!

Is this gonna make me spend money? Hate when that happens.SoWal Insider
My husband buys and sells on Ebay also. But unfortunately, he does way more buying than wanting to sell. I am having to constantly watch our bank account, if I don't keep an eye on it he will drain it dry. He pays through Paypal and it comes out of our checking, like instant transfer.

Kenny, have bought and sold literally tons of things on eBay, my feedback score shows 720 items currently. Would be glad to help you if I can!

If you just want to get rid of stuff, Craigslist and Freecycle are easier. You can post a rusty old roll of chicken wire on Freecycle and people will fight over who's gonna be to your house first to pick it up.
We've been selling a lot on Craigslist lately. Most calls are from people in Pensacola, but there's always someone willing to make drive over here.

I think setting up an e-bay store for your stuff would be great for you. I have never sold anything, but do buy a good deal. I like it when the sellers have their own store online. I never bid. I only do the buy it now.

I am a recent Ebay consumer. I have purchased things...only burned once! My dauhgter has sold things and all went well. It does take some time to ship and follow up, but worth the effort. I got many good suggestions from folks on this board.
I say" Go for it and have funn!!"

Hi everyone,
My neighbor knows that I sell/buy stuff on ebay and just gave me a copy of Entrepreneur's Magazine - Ebay Startup Guide. The whole issue is all about ebay, might be helpful to pick up a copy of that. The display until date is 3/3/2008.
Happy selling!!!

Kenny--
I thought of this thread as I just deleted 3 phishing emails from people trying to get my ebay info.
We sell on ebay everyday and the biggest tip I could ever offer is DO NOT respond to anything from ebay, or a bidder, or a question on your items from your personal email that requires you to enter your ebay info outside of ebay. Always use my messages, in my ebay area. They look so real nowadays! It is so easy to be tricked.
Just an fyi, you can report all the fake ones to spoof@ebay.com.
Good Luck
