It's still early, but Congressional requests aren't due until later in February after the President releases his budget on February 4th. Word on the street is that it will be in the high 900 billions, above 975 billion. It's funny but the Office of Management and Budget were working on keeping it under a trillion because Bush made it clear he didn't want to be the first "Trillion Dollar President." Funny thing is, if you add up his original budget last year with all of the "emergency" spending he asked for he has already become the first "Trillion Dollar President." Just a little inside the beltway info to start the week.

If you were a couple years earlier, I could have hooked you up with your Senator from SC. What are you working on these days? I have some contacts with the NC peeps in DC.

All we do is government and public agency lobbying. We do not do any private organizations. Their requests are still considered Congressional earmarks since they aren't typically in the President's budget, but I don't have the stomach for dealing with private pork barreling. I am involved with local government requests for funding that fall in the realms of transportation and infrastructure, energy and water, homeland security, economic development, etc. As you know, I am new to the area but am trying to build a client base in SC, NC, and GA. Any help you can give would be great.
