Phillip, the last event was so awakening. Swami J is like a magnet, attracting great minds. Though it has nothing to do with age, when I listen to him talk, I feel like a little kid, listening to my grandpa giving me notes directing me on how to search to live. So glad to have you hosting these soulfully-wonderful events!

The schedule is the same for this week. Please let me know if you need a ride to Fort Walton Beach for any of Swami J's or the Center's events.

I'm not in SoWal so I can't attend these workshops though I would definitely attend if I were there! I've been reading a bit about Buddhism, meditation, and mindfulness because I want to learn more about Easter perspectives. The perspectives I've learned have added much value to my life already (and I've only read 3 books so far and attended one great workshop).

What does One Hand Clapping stand for? Is there special meaning to this - it's a great phrase.

One hand clapping is an old zen proverb meant to invoke introspection of the self. By concentrating on the sound of one hand clapping (which should be silence) you are calming the thoughts within the mind to allow self-awareness to come forward. I also use it because it is playful. It reminds us to not take things so seriously as we do this work.

I have found these practices to be incredibly beneficial to every aspect of my life, and am glad to read that it is making a difference in your life. As a suggestion, here are two incredible resources: www.swamij.com and [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0893891177/ref=pd_bbs_sr_olp_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202233294&sr=8-1"]The Art of Joyful Living[/ame] by Swami Rama.

Thanks for the explanation and reading recommendations. Very peaceful thought of one hand clapping. I've been reading books by Pema Chodron and have found them very helpful (e.g., calming the chatter in the mind, turning arrows into flowers, and realizing that some of the people/situations that drive us crazy can be our teachers to whom we can be thankful rather than annoyed).

Sarah Gibson leads a yoga book-club discussion, and our first book was written by Pema Chodron. It was very informative and enjoying.....I wish you the best in your pursuit.
