I am curious and I may have missed this elsewhere on the forum but what campaign(s) are you working on now, or are you currently running for office? I'm also curious about what campaigns you have been involved with in the past and in what capacity.
Kurt,
My name is Robert Nelson and I am a current candidate for Walton County School Board District 1. I am also Chairman of the Walton County Republican Executive Committee. I started campaign work knocking on doors for Jeb Bush. Four years ago I was the Walton County Chairman for the re-elect Don Brown Campaign and worked on it extensively two years ago. Also two years ago I knocked doors and made phone calls for Charlie Crist while vice-Chairman of the party. (I loved knocking doors and meeting people, but I feel for anyone making phone calls, it is brutal). I have also, in the past sat on the Walton County Contractor's Competency Board, the County Redistricting Committee as we worked to try to get the district boundaries for local representation a little more balanced, and am now Chairman of the County Code Enforcement Board. All of my campaigning locally the last four years has been extensive work on GOTV(get out to vote) and absentee balloting for Republicans seeking local office. Because I was involved in making decisions on expenditures of funds at the party level it required me to read and re-read, as well as ask a ton of questions about Florida Statutes in regards to campaign financing, what is allowed, and what is not allowed. One thing I did learn, there is a whole lot of bad information out in the public. And campaign laws have gotten to be the most confusing laws I have ever ran across. This does not even begin to county the complex BICRA statutes that we now must follow with the Federal election also on the ballot.
