Braves Lose Again--Argh

Well my 3 boys and I sat thru 6+ hours of the final Braves game of the season and one that should have been over a few times if it weren't for the Braves Bullpen. 18 innings. 7 1/3 of a great game where they were in command of the game 6-1 and then only to see 2 swings of the bat in the 8th and 9th innings tie the game. I knew at that moment that the season would end today. :bang: :bang: Then another swing of the bat in the 18th inning and the misery was over.

Frustrating but a good season nonetheless since they were not picked to be in it anyway and they were the 1st team to field 8 rookies in a championship series.

Now it is the Cards and 'stros and then onto the World Series. Just hope to see the Yanks go away and not make the Series.

Jeez, I know. Baseball is so boring, and 18 innings gives me a seizure. But I had to see it through to the end - I'm an ATL native.

Actually the beer is the killer. It puts me into snooze-land because baseball is so sloooooooooow.

I too am so disappointed that the Braves lost to the Astros! I hate the thought we now have to watch them for another round when they face the Cards. We were so confident that the Braves had this game in the bag that we headed out to Shlafly's Bottleworks (a local St. Louis pub/brewery/eatery) and enjoyed a couples of bottles of wine outdoors, away from the tv. Went inside to use the restroom and found the Braves and Astros battling it out in the 16th inning! Aargh! :bang:

Hopefully the Cards will win the first two games at home and then leave Houston with the win. And if all goes well, by that time the Yanks will be history!

Hey SJ...you need to move to St. Louis for a couple of months some summer...we'd turn you into a baseball fan whether you liked it or not! :funn: It's mandatory if you live here! :floor:

Oh. You think that's bad? Try watching SEC football when the damn Yankees are playing. That's a challenge. They're the WORST.

But we're on their turf...so what do you do? :idontno:

I remember when the Braves were so bad that I would see bumper stickers around ATL stating, "Go Braves, and take the Falcons with you!" I noticed today, while in the Red Bar, the Braves were on TV on one side of the room and the Falcons were on the opposing TV. Anyone want to tell me which season it is currently? Way too much hoopla about unimportant stuff.

No doubt in my mind (NDIMM) if the Braves won yesterday's game and eventually the NLDS, the celebration would have been brief because unless devine intervention occurred thte Braves would not be able to beat the Cards. So, the Astros/Cards series is going to be a agood one. Great pitching on both teams but the Cards have a few more bats so I see them in the WS.

Now we need the Yanks to lose so we can enjoy the WS this year.

SJ I remember those stickers too. Also remember going to the old Atlanta Fulton County Stadium with 1500 or so of my closest friends to watch the ame and heckle the Bruce Benedict (the catcher in those days) from behind home plate. I would rather see them win 80-100 games a season and make the playoffs than see them slide back to that kinda team.

It looks like the Braves and Falcons at least have teams of respectability and now just need to push themselves alittle harder to get to the next level of a world championship. The Thrashers are looking good but the Hawks are toast before the beginning of each season. Where is Dominique Jr when you need him? :bang:

Maybe the Hawks need to change to black uniforms like the Falcons?

I also recall when you could go into a bank for whatever reason, and as a courtesy gift, the teller would give you a couple of complimentary Braves tickets.:floor: They have come a long way.

Oh yeah! My favorite there is the Rasberry Hefeweizen; you can't taste the rasberry and it's not sweet, but somehow the rasberry takes away the bitterness and aftertaste. Yum!
