Elliot Spitzer: Govenor/Left Wing Democratic/ Hypocritical Violater/Hooker Lover.
David Vitter: Senator /Right Wing Republican/ Hypocritical Violater/Hooker Lover.

Tit for tat, back and forth.....I am glad Hypocracy is not a specific Political Party. "Yo, I m a Hypocrat, baby!"

Unreal....what amazes me is how the wife is standing stoicly by his side. For once, I would like to see one of these scandal makers have to say, "my wife is too pissed off to be by my side right now"

Hoisted on his own petard. Political ambition undone. I watched this unfold on CNBC today (only because I don't have access to Bloomberg or BNN). Charlie Gasparino was just barely able to contain himself. The irony of the situation was repeatedly compared to a Greek tragedy. There were cheers on the trading floors, and sentiment that this couldn't be happening to a nicer guy, no sympathy for Spitzer on Wall Street.

His wife stood by his side during his terse statement to the press (but she looked sad). I wonder how he's going to explain this to his three daughters 13, 15, & 18?

Spitzer has brought Wall Streeters to heel, which not only have been positive actions for the State, but for the entire country. He came from means already, and he certainly didn't have to pursue politics for a living.
New York politics though have long been a hot bed of corruption, pay to play mentality, and Spitzer hasn't been the first to try and curb it.

I am shocked, mainly because I find it hard to believe that he had no idea that this type of sting was being conducted right under his nose, and signed off by two NYC judges for the FBI to investigate.
Then all the phone calls back and forth to see if his deposit had arrived spanning over a few days? Think about it. How could someone in his position and his knowledge of these types of operations be so callous?
It makes one wonder what is really going on, especially when your political rivals have last names that end in O? I suppose we may never know.

But at the end of the day, if all is really true (yes, I know he admitted it)
I don't see his resignation as beneficial, but, if that is the case, I wouldn't be upset with his successor.

"David Paterson would become New York's first African American governor and the first who is legally blind. According to his official biography, Paterson was born May 20,1954 in Brooklyn, NY. His father was Basil Paterson, the first non-white secretary of state of New York and the first African-American vice-chair of the national Democratic Party.
The Lt. Governor earned his bachelor's degree in History from Columbia University, graduating in 1977, and completed his J.D. at Hofstra Law School in 1982. Paterson entered public life in 1985 when he began representing Harlem in the New York State Senate. In 2002, he became its Minority Leader -- the first non-white legislative leader in New York's history. He made history again in 2004 when he became the first visually impaired person to address the Democratic National Convention. And in 2006 Mr. Paterson was elected New York's first African-American lieutenant governor. Paterson, who is legally blind, is a member of the American Foundation for the Blind, serves as a member of the Democratic National Committee and is a board member of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. In addition, he is a member of the board of the Achilles Track Club, having completed the New York City Marathon in 1999."

A man stupidly patronizing a prostitution ring and admitting it - obviously dark political forces are at work! You can lead a horse to water..........

Thanks for your lovely statement!

Good riddance to Spitzer. He is an arrogant jerk who ruined many innocent lives and companies because of his blind ambition. What has happened to him is poetic justice. I feel for his wife and daughters though.

His wife may have stood by him at the press conference yesterday, but there is going to be hell to pay in that house. First of all, imagine being a teenage girl and having this happen to your family. Second, yesterday I read an interesting older article about his wife, an extremely capable former corporate lawyer. She was very honest about her difficulty in adjusting to the life of a full-time political spouse. She does not strike me as the doormat type.

I'm not even going to justify that statement with a rebuttal.
I know you are not that naive to politricks, especially when those you oppose yield tremendous power. For the record, I never said that he didn't do it. But, if you want to take everything reported to you at face value without question and not form your own opinion, well that's your prerogative. Frankly, based on your previous posts on this board, I expected more from you.

BTW: I just gave you rep anyway.

Her purse would be considerably lighter as the fee paid to the prostitute was a hefty $5,500. I love sex as much as the next person, but never have I experienced anything I'd be willing to pay $5,500 for. (Lets call it fun but frugal.) I wonder if he tried to barter that down?

Now I'm really curious as to why it was so expensive! Are those upper class New York rates or kink upcharges? Pretty pricey for vanilla IMO!

I think they will stay together. I think they are a gubernatorial version of Hillary and Bill. They are a two person "team," and at this point in the dynamic of their relationship, it may not be an intimate/romantic "team" (any longer...), but they stay together because of mutual admiration, the children, the past, not wanting to start all over, etc. etc.

Somebody please comment on this...I think this happens more than you think, and it is not just couples in politics!

The Guvna went a bit farther than Bill did..."mutual admiratiom?" ya think??? "the children?"..get them out of there! Good time to start over.

Did anyone else see the news blip last night on CNN about the Guv's wife and the catfight with a prostitute in the Gov's mansion in 2003??? The prostitute pressed charges and it's on file. Mrs. Guv kicked butt! So she knew about the ho's.....I guess your right. Misery loves company.:bang:

I know it happens to many couples. There is also a new type of relationship called the "non-divorce." Interesting how economics touches all aspects of interpersonal relationships.

It is far too common - it is very sad how often I hear that people are only together because of $ or kids.

I don't think I could put a price tag on staying with someone who was endangering my health and publicly humiliating me.
