I fit most of the above "drug" categories. I had a teacher who often drug me by the ear, when I'd get out of line. She lifted me right out of my chair with only a finger and thumb grabbing onto my ear, and led me directly to the corner. OUCH! -- what painful memories. One grandmother never "drugged" me. She didn't have to. She used to send me out to the Peach Tree to get her a switch. A few times, I tried getting wimpy, limp branches, but she sent me back to the tree, to get one which would work. That torture of sending me to the tree to fetch the tool of punishment always, well usually, hurt much worse than the sting of the Peach Tree switch.

Thank you KTSChris. Boy does that say it all. I grabbed that one up and passed along to all my kids. I am not one to send emails to a pile of people and ask them to pass it along, but I think this warrants the intrusion.

Dad's tree of choice was an Apple tree ...
I'm not all that fond of apples to this day

I'm over the fear of the Peach Trees. I conquered my fear by eating the delicious fruit of the trees (had some peaches for breakfast this morning).

I still remember my Dad's disciplinary methods. Today, by some standards, I'm sure he would be considered a "child abuser". In retrospect, he was anything but. The lessons he impressed upon me through his discipline are still with me today and I am rapidly approaching the age at which he departed this earth at the age of 84. I certainly was anything but a perfect parent but my offspring are productive and a long way from being in jail. Some parents need to seriously consider the "drug" message, IMHO.
