Spring Planting 2008

Got my new 2008 Gladiolas called Zizane today.
I nicked my morning glories and potted them, this year Picotee Blue and Red Stars. I also found a sunflower with a true red center and yellow edges. Although, I am not counting on it, but hopeful. I have a feeling it will be reddish brown. It looks like a Dahlia almost.

(But today I was actually thinking that maybe this spring/summer I will work in my OWN yard for once, and even enjoy it!)

Funny you should ask...I spent my day gardening. I have got to buy morning glories this week. I have some volunteers coming up from last year, but I need to supplement. My favorite is Heavenly Blue. I cleaned leaves out of beds today, and I thought of SJ and our discussion of Magnolia leaves...
My iris are just stunning. I have one that's almost black it's so dark purple.
I have a sort of new bed in the front that I'll be working on this spring. I threw some stuff from the back yard in there last year and it's all thriving, but it's a huge bed, mostly shade, so I've gotta beef it up. So far I have Mexican petunias, oxalis, turk's cap and inland sea oats.

When I had more sunny spots in another yard, I used to do all those exotic sunflowers. Some of them were really gorgeous. Wish I had more sun now.
When I buy the morning glory seeds, I will buy the obligatory impatiens for my super shady back yard.

You have irises already? I'm jealous. I won't see irises until probably May.

Those Gladiolas are really unique, they do look like peppermint sticks.

Yeah, I'm workin' on it.

We have iris foliage, and daffodils coming out the wazoo, forsythia, azaleas, cherry blossoms, bradford pear (bleh!), and hyacinths.

And after yesterday's showers, we have yellow-rimmed puddles. Bleh again...

OMG! DD has esp! How is this possible..am I going to be famous one day? Rich? Slender ? Or can you only see 1 minute into the future? In most peoples minds this would be a near useless ability but you are lucky I am around, we can clean up in the stock market. Seriously, how did you quote Phead before he posted?

Yes, I love the smell. Irises are one of my all-time tip-top favorites!
