Wisdom teeth help

I had just one wisdom tooth pulled last Friday and it still hurts! Motrin is still my closest friend and I'm worried I shouldn't be experiencing soreness at this point. How long does it take to go away?

:(

No, because I don't think it's to that point yet. From what I hear, it's "normal" for it to still be sore just a week after, I just thought I'd poll some who are experienced with it!

If you are concerned you need to call your dentist. My daughter was still swollen and sore a week after. My grandson just had 2 removed and it gave him some trouble, but nothing pain medicine couldn't control. Call your dentist to be sure!

I had all four impacted wisdom teeth removed with only novacaine (16 shots in all). My BF was the assistant to the oral surgeon and kept putting the mirror up for me to look. She drove me home and told my mom to make me eat steak that night. The next day she came and made me play tennis with her! I am woman hear me roar!!!!

BTW...I have had 16 teeth removed by the dentist. Bet you can't believe I have a SMALL mouth! hee hee hee

I think I'll see how I do over the weekend and then call Monday if it's still an issue. This is my first one, so I wasn't sure what's normal and what's not. It hasn't been so bad, just wondering if I was experiencing the same as anyone else.

Good point OL! Both my kids sailed through this procedure. It is amazing how much the medical technology has advanced.

I was the same way. I was really sore and mine were just yanked...not cut. I would say mine was throbbing for about 3 weeks afterwards...

Mine had to be cut out after they had to break them in to pieces to extract them. :creepy: I've still got them around here somewhere.

Vicadine (sp?) got me through mine. :clap_1:

Seriously, if you are still in pain after a week, I would call today just to let them know. You don't want to find out Sat. night that there is a problem and have to wait til monday while you are in serious pain.

You could make a necklace...

This is all good to know. Mine was just yanked, but it was impacted and I'd grown an extra root that wasn't supposed to be there. What can I say, I've always been an overachiever!

I'm saving them for my old age so if I lose a tooth, I can just jam that sucker in its place. :funn:

With a little super glue, it might not be so bad! A lot cheaper than going to the dentist!

Get a gold cap or two, engrave with your initials and you're good to go!

yipes. My husband tells me how he had to go on the high-test painkillers for the same procedure. They'd probably phone that in for you, I'm sure it's fairly standard.

Hearing that makes me glad i am a super-evolved neo-humanoid... ;-) ...i was born without them! whew!
