Woo Hoo. I don't know what my fascination is with the Rockefeller Center tree but I spend the holidays staring at this webcam. Over the next few days, you'll see them put up scaffolding around it and you can see the little dudes putting lights on it.

Our huge mall in the suburbs has had ALL their holiday decorations up BEFORE Halloween! Seriously! It was so bizarre shopping for Halloween stuff and seeing all the Christmas decorations all over the mall!!
(Lindabobhat & Beachlover 2, you know which mall I'm talking about.)

They'll move the camera up close to the tree later in the month so you can see better. At least they did last year

Before Halloween?! Were the lights turned on?

Before Halloween?! Were the lights turned on? :roll:No, they weren't, come to think of it. But it is very heavily decorated - lots of frosty, glittery deorations hanging down, the Santa village (but not him yet). Just very surreal tho.

I know how you feel about the Rockefeller tree LL. I love going to Lenox Square here in ATL and seeing the Rich's Great Tree. However, this year will be the first year that it will be known as the Macy's Great Tree, since Federated Inc. changed all Rich's stores to Macy's stores.

Thanks for sending this live feed of Rockefeller Center. FYI, the snowflake that usually hangs at 5th Aven/59th St. is on load to another city and a new one will be hanging in NYC this year. It is my favorite. We are headed to NY for the long weekend following Thanksgiving, an annual trek. Hoping for some fluffy white stuff, but will settle for some sweater weather. It's my favorite time of year in NYC.
For those who love "the illuminations," as my little grandmother used to call holiday lights, the lakeyard park around perfectly round Lake DeFuniak will be outfitted with over 3 million lights, most of which reflect in the Lake. The anttebellum homes around the lake are also beautifully decorated. Well worth a short trip "to town" for those of you living at or visiting South Walton beaches. You might also enjoy lunch at the little Busy Bee Cafe, one block off the lakeyard in downtown, along with a quick shop in the "Little Big Store." There is a small voluntary donation for those of you who wish to drive around the lake rather than walking.

We just toured Santaland here in the store. OH my gosh. It's amazing. I mean talk about wanting to be a little kid again. A co-worker said she cries when she sees Santa...and I totally teared up. If any of you are in the city...bring your kids to Santaland!
And we are installing windows tonight!!!!

Donna,
Are the lights on as early as Thanksgiving? We'll be there and would love to go take a look!

Where did the tree come from this year? Has anyone ever skated in that plaza? We were in NYC one Xmas years ago and I remember wishing our kids were older so we could have joined in the fun. Xmas in NYC is like being in fairyland with all the lights and decorations.
