Tangible or intangible.....
Mine had to be a clay whale tail that my darling husband sculpted himself. Since he's generally not real crafty, it really touched me. I still have it. It would be one of the things I grab in a fire.

Johnrudy, you'll get a kick out of this. My 17 year old daughter wants a hair appliance for Christmas, but NOT the Clairol electric rollers that we all drooled over. Big curls are out for these girls! What they want is exactly the opposite: electric ceramic hair straighteners. Good ones can cost close to $100!You're right. Good ones are $$$$. We have a cheap one from Ulta, about $50 (!!) and I iron my son's hair for him sometimes! Yes, even boys do it too.

The bicycle that my husband gave me for Christmas, the first year that we were dating. It was a royal blue and hot pink Trek with fat tires so I would feel safer than with a road bike. I think that's when I fell in love with him. He has been the best present of my life, actually.

Yes, this is an old thread, but still timely. Best gift.... my oldest, precious daughter was born on Dec. 22 and came home from the hospital on Christmas Day in a red stocking. She still uses it 26 years later.
On a more recent note, my youngest child despised reading after being subjected to accelerated reader. This was a child who would spend $30-$40 at a time on books, so when she started to dislike reading I was heartbroken. However, she returned from her first semester at college and told me she was going to the library to check out books to read. I wanted to ask her if she had been smoking crack! And later she said," I have great book for you to read if you have time." I wanted to shout from the rooftop, I was soooooo excited. That is the second best gift I have recieved! Merry Christmas to all as Christmas miracles are alive and present!@

One Chi ceramic flat iron now under bed, ready to be wrapped! Thank god for overstock.com. I came in just under $100 and it was exactly the model that Fyl wanted. (You're not saying that oh yes and it HAS to be a Chi!) She will be one very happy little teenager Christmas morning.

Peapod, do you have wavy hair then? I do and I love it. So does Fyl but she doesn't love it. I expect she'll be as old as me before she gets used to what God gave her. :bang:

Wore it naturally curly and super short for years and years, the iron has let me have a little variety after looking the same for a loooong time!

i had to share this with you sentimental folks. my mom called me and said my pop came to work and took her to lunch today, (he's been on vacation since the 2nd week of dec. and they work at the same place), and he was all dressed up with khaki pants and a nice sweater. mom said he even had his fly zipped (he tends to forget that !) they had a nice lunch at the new mexican restaurant, then he took her to the jewelry store and told her she could pick out anything she wanted for christmas/anniversary (their 45th anniv. is next year). unlike me, mom is very conservative when it comes to jewelry, so she said she got a nice 4 diamond ring for her right hand. she is as excited as a school girl with a crush. didn't know pop was so romantic

audie, that is so nice! And what a smart man your father is, letting your mother pick what she wanted.
