I just had a call from a family member in desperate need of $$$$ before 5pm est. Our only option was..... I probably can't say the name here (right Kurt) but you may have seen their signs in every grocery store and gas station in town and it rhymes with Bestern Communion.
So, I get on the phone and make the call, I punch in my card number, date of birth, last four of the social, on and on until my fingers bled. And then I wait and wait and wait. Then I get the human. I tell her we are running out of time and could we hurry. She sighed and said, "yeah, well, sure we can try to hurry a little. Oh, my computer isn't working I have to transfer you but I'll give the other person your information because you are in a hurry. After several more rounds of wait wait wait, I get Mike on the phone. He just needs to verify a few things...the number, the other number, the address, the other address....now I just need to pull your credit report and ask you some multiple choice questions that only you would know the answer to. For the love of MIKE!!!!
Just like I do while watching Jeopardy, I shout out the answers before he reads the choices...I got one of them wrong and he had to start over. By now it is too late. I told Mike, never mind, it is too late, cancel 51. To which Mike says, "ok, this will just take a few minutes to cancel the transaction.
For the love of PETE!!!!!!:banging:

I feel violated...I feel like I got on the phone and heard, "hi, my name is Sally and I'll be your rapist today...oh wait, I need to send you over to Mike."
Hi, I'm Mike and I am going to be violating you from now on. Ok, no wait, it says here I have to do it again. This will only hurt a little.

Bottom line....she didn't get the money today. She did however find an alternative (and now isn't that what she should have done in the first place:bang:)
Good googly I need a long run and a cold beer!

I can understand the frustration in customer service, but I would also have to say that an emergency on someone elses watch, does not always constitute an emergency on your part. I had to stop getting anxious when people ran to me to fix things they should have done long before they called me and said it's due in five minutes. I have had dealings with this company in person and all I can say is it takes a while to get it done, no matter in person or on the phone.

I think I missed something.

BTW, why wire money in this day and age? If it's a late night emergency you just talk to the business they need to give the money to and put it on your credit card.

Works for car repairs, gas, food, medical, motels etc.

I had buried this one deep down beneath the newer, more painful rants and injustices and almost forgotten it. Thanks for bringing it all hurtling back at me

I could fill an entire thread with the circumstances behind my getting roped by one family member to bail out (literally) another family member who, it turns out, was scamming both of us...but I won't do that unless you meet me for a beer or something. And I gave alkyhal up for lent so thanks for opening THAT wound!:funn:I have put the kabosh on any thoughts they might have of ever asking again.

I'm a customer service rep and based my rant on inside knowledge of how the best and the worst call centers operate. This was bad from the word go...when a CSR sighs and makes you feel like you are keeping them from something important, things are going to blow up.

Because jails and bondsmen don't take credit cards or checks.

Doubt it since you can challenge the charge. I realize how stupid that sounds, but I remember when Bay County stopped taking checks due to the number that people were bouncing. Kinda bad to bounce a check to the office that prosecutes bad checks.

On another note I'm betting bigger cities have that option, but the small county jail in a rural area is probably gonna be cash or gold.

On another other note: when I went to get friend from the pokey late Sunday, I can honestly state that I have never experienced and encountered so many illiterate people in one place as the employees of the detention center. :( At one point I was certain they were going to cuff my GF with me for asking the simple question, "When will 'friend' be coming out? You've held her for 15 hours." You can probably use your credit card to bail yourself out here, but the mess that overshadows this City is a complete atrocity.
