LMAO!!!

BTW, when my daughter and I dropped my son off at his freshman dorm yesterday, that's sort of like the scene we walked in on. His roomate was in bed with his girlfriend. I guess I should thank my lucky stars that if was only one roomate in bed with only one girl, huh? ;-)

That is classic
Not as classic as the look on my sweet innocent daughter's face. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. I should clarify though. Fyl is an inveterate early bird. I think she was shocked at the fact it was in the middle of the afternoon that she was witnessing lovebirds in action. ;-) I needn't tell you that my son hustled us out of his room PDQ. I think he was afraid that I was going to march over and tell the two slugbugs to get out of bed. :funn:
LMAO? Easy for you to say, RO, when you are the parent of boys! You'd be singing a different tune if you had girls! My daughter was telling me this weekend that now she calls her roommate at the sorority house before she enters their room. On several occasions my daughter walked in on her roommate having sex with her roommate's boyfriend.

I think we'll be moving her back into an off-campus apartment in January. I've already spent a boatload of money on furnishings from last year when she lived in an apartment, so moving her out of the sorority house will only cost me rent but save me money on expensive dining in Atlanta since she will be able to cook (and she will - she loves to cook) at her apartment. And we can use it on weekends - PREANNOUNCED - for shopping and dropping off the dog.
Dam! Sounds like American Pie :shock:Really.

That's crazy! I could never imagine something like that happening in my house. Did she get in trouble or anything?
That's crazy! I could never imagine something like that happening in my house. Did she get in trouble or anything? They don't get in trouble for anything except wearing the wrong color or length dress or the wrong shoes at rush, or missing meetings, or not participating in events that gives the sorority points (like homecoming, intramurals, etc.). There's no housemother any more - just another sister who wouldn't dare squeal about sex in the sorority house. And BTW the hazing is REALLY scary - yes, even the girls do it. You didn't hear that from me.

I was in a sorority at USC, but I don't remember any hazing. We were kept busy with activities that were fun and were treated very well, and our initiation ceremony was somber, but not scary. I've never heard of sorority hazing- what do they do?They take the pledges to Lenox Square, dress them up in humiliating clothes, and make them ask stupid questions to random people. Then they take all of the pledges to a sister's home, blindfold them, and make them squat in a subservient position for hours while screaming profanities at them. They take the girls into a room one at a time and call them names like bi_ch and who_e and tell them how fat and ugly they are. By the end of the day my daughter's back was so pained from being in a squatting postion for hours that she couldn't walk upright for several days. But if you're not a Greek at that campus, it's too incredibly boring of an existence to endure, so the kids just deal with it.
Edited
Really.
BTW this roommate's parents own two homes in WaterColor.
It's like Sueshore says: "Cash doesn't buy class." :scratch:Or as we say about some of our neighbors here in GA, "Too much green, not enough blue."
Unbelieveable! When I was younger (high school), there were high school sororities and fraternities (I guess technically social clubs), and these groups were very much a Louisville tradition- you had a lot of legacies. I was in one because I went to an all girls school and we had parties with the fraternities, so I had an instant guy group to hang with. The down side was the hazing. I hated it, never participated in it, refused to be hazed, and during pledging whoever was lucky enough to be my little sister got to go to movies, shopping- anywhere but where that dumb hazing crap was going on. I held offices every year. Looking back on it, the girls that hazed the most had some issues- maybe the hazing made them feel powerful. Public humiliation is bull s*&$ and pointless.
I never saw this in sororities at the college level at USC or UK- is this something unique to your daughter's school? Maybe she can be the catalyst for change- by convincing her sorority sisters how undignified and backward the ENTIRE group looks by this hazing. Not a flattering image for good southern girls! Just my $.02--

That behavior seems more typical of high school and even then, more of a thing of the past. I never saw this in my sorority or any other on campus. If the sorority or fraternity is national and not just local, they have strict policies against hazing due to potential lawsuits and reputation. I guess I thought that these days kids were more sopisticated and not so easily pressured by that age by such ridiculous stuff. Like djarg said, I hope all Southern campuses aren't so backward these days.
Just my 2 cents too.
When my son was at UT/Knoxville, I knew of at least 2 frats that were in trouble at the time. So I guess I shouldn't be totally clueless. From the alumni publications, I just know that the nationals can give strict probation or can close down a chapter for hazing. More scary stuff for us parents to worry about!
You got a kid in colledge? I thought you were in your early 30's .... Well.... I guess thats possible
