Ok, things are looking up for my trip December 30-January 2. We'll be driving instead of flying because that is just too much money for plane tickets, it was like $480 each!!!It will be like 8 hours so I will have the evening of the 30th, all day the 31st and all day the 1st. Will places be open to shop like in Destin on New Years Eve and New Years Day?

And no, Kimmifunn, don't even start. :nono1:
I'm just about to the screaming point. My husband doesn't want to drive that far just for the weekend. It would be 8 hours to SoWal.![]()
What can you tell me about Dallas Miss Kitty? That's closer but still somewhere we never go. I'm checking on a Wyndham near the Galleria mall. Is that a good part of town? If ya'll are tired of hearing about my almost trips just say the word and I'll stew by myself.
Man BC, this is a tough one! The Wyndham is attached to the Galleria and the mall is nice. What are you looking to do?
I hope you look into cheaper (?) airfares to Pensacola...I would much rather you be in SoWal than Big D...but I am very biased!!!

Ok, I'll check again. You sure are a sweet kitty kitty
Gee...thanks! It's not often that Miss Kitty earns the title of "sweet"!!! I just SO want you to go to the BEACH...because you are CRAZY for it!!!
I know, me too! No go. $431 and that's a 2 hour drive to the scare port!
I know, me too! No go. $431 and that's a 2 hour drive to the scare port!
Which scare port do you fly out of?
I would prefer the Monroe, Louisiana scareport (that's the way Miss Kitty spells it and when Miss Kitty does it, then we have to do it)![]()
Monroe is only an hour and 15 minutes from our home, but Shreveport, Louisiana is also close, an hour and 45 minutes. Either one of those would be great. The Monroe scareport has a great deal for flying into Houston Hobby, my hubby went this spring to Houston for like $106. What a bargain. :clap_1:
.... Hey dd, CoS and Rita...help this poor gull know what to do here to have FUNN!
YOU called it scareport....and I LOVE it!!!! That's an idea...try to get down to Houston and visit Galveston. It's not sowal, but they have a great Dickens festival at this time of year. I think it would be better than Dallas!!!

Ohh, I wasn't even thinking about going there!! As in "A Christmas Carol" type thing???? Cool
to deal with.Oops! Sorry I'm late again as usual!![]()
Anyway, I agree with Miss Kitty, Galveston is really nice at Christmas with the Dickens on the Strand thing. Not sure of the dates though. But keep in mind, Galveston ain't no SoWal! And the water's a "little" different color!
There are lots of thing to do in the Dallas Fort Worth area, including Gaylord Texan which just happens to be where I live! It's sooooooooooooo beautiful at Christmas, but getting in there can be a nightmare with all the "light lookers" (like me!) and the regular hotel parties, etc. Unless you're staying there it's ato deal with.
Six Flags has "Holiday in the Park" which is kinda fun, and gets you in a festive mood.
Most of the major hotels have pretty good New Year's parties...
What are your interests? Got anything in particular in mind?
BC-well, there's TONS of shopping and TONS of freeways, so you're in luck!
I'm not so much into the shopping thing, but lots of people like a place called Sam Moon's...knock off stuff, http://dallas.about.com/cs/sammoon/
Lots of beautiful lights all around.
The Sixth Floor Museum is pretty interesting.
I live 15 miles from Dallas and I hardly go there, isn't that strange? I tend to visit Fort Worth more often, which has the Stockyards,http://www.stockyardsstation.com/index.mv
Sundance Square

FW has a great zoo.
Hope this helps.
