I have spent the last 2 days baking cookies to give as gifts. My idea was the 12 days of cookies...a different one for each of 12 days.( I really love baking) Well, the pralines were a diaster, so it is changed to 11 days of CHristmas...it has a quirky ring to it :idontno: .
That being said my question is "What is cookie or candy must you have during this season?" I love these chocolate brownie cookies I made but made a new lemon cookie that may be the winner..not too sweet. My mother's divinytis the best, but I have no self control when it is around so I pass on it.

Funny that you're talking about cookies, because college exam time is right around now, and my son put in a request for snickerdoodles. I'll be sending him some this week to get him through a tough time. ;-)
I'm not a very good baker so this is a labor of love for me.

pecan balls, lifelikes (like a sugar cookie w/ frosting) mission bells (these have red wine in them).....yummy!!!! I am baking today, and of course the all time fav in my house is choc. chip 😀

I bake choc. chip cookies, but not your average, Tollhouse recipe. My recipe has rolled oats, crushed corn flakes, 2 sticks of butter, 1 cup of oil, chopped pecans, choc. chips. Whenever anybody eats them, they say they are the best they've ever tasted! My son had a group ot teens over last night, and they all came to me to tell me they were the best ever!! They're VERY rich and crispy.
I also like divinity and pralines. No one eats (or makes) those in this area where we live. :(

Yes my daughter's exam begins on Friday which is why I rushed to get all the baking done this weekend. Made snickerdoodles for the other girl child. It was the first time and I was surprised how easy they were. My dough must have not had enough flour because they were really sticky to roll. Loved licking the fingers.

My son loves snickerdoodles because he learned how to make them in his sophomore home ec class in high school. I use his recipe and it makes me all sentimental because it's in his messy handwriting with all the cookie dough smudges all over it.
I'd love some rum balls right now, yummmmm yummmmmm!

Aren't rum balls those round, chewy (even yucky) things? Maybe I've never had a good one before!!!!

I must have........whatever someone else bakes/makes. I burnt myself out on the whole baking thing. I used to spend my entire Christmas vacation baking. Then my kids finally outgrew it and so I stopped. Once and a great while I'll beg GTTBD to make a batch of "mock peanut brittle". It's so good it's addictive, once you start eating it you cannot stop!!!!! So he makes it we both eat some and I find some one to give it away to very quickly.
Your lemon cookie sounds good. I may have to beg you to share your recipe for that one.

We usually make carrot cookies w/orange flavored icing (my favorite) and the traditional sugar cookies - I let the Jackie and friends make them now.

Does anyone make biscotti? I make a recipe from Bon Appetit a few Christmases ago. It has cinammon sugar on it. It's easy to make and even a bad baker like me can't mess it up. And it tastes heavenly!

We (my daughter, my friend and I) have a cookie baking day and a candy making day.
We make: Lemon Bars, Oatmeal Cookies, Shortbread and Cocoa Shortbread. This year, we are also making brownies with lots of nuts.
Candy: Divinity, Fudge, Peanut Brittle, English Toffee, Peppermint Bark.
We make lots of everything and then split it all up and give as gifts.
