He did make it! He was upset the the Home Depot was closed by the time he got in. He said it's a good bit warmer in SoWal than it was in Ohio!

Yes, there ARE compensations for being Miss Kitty! (I usually say what's on my mind, too, leading Merman to comment more than once "you were the evening's entertainment..." :funn:...not that he's ever bothered about it!)

I figured that about you!!! They used to always put me at the draggiest tables at evening functions....I got very tired of carrying tables!!! But, most of those folks were never the same after an evening of Miss Kitty! In fact, I wonder if any of them are still with the firm??? wheeeeeeeee!

I also escaped the Christmas party w/the engineers. Bdarg is not going either - he said it's all he can do to be around this group 5 days a week. At other firms he has been lucky and there were a few engineers with people skills. His current firm sounds like a lost cause.
One year (and only once!) we went to the state association banquet 'cause his company had a table. I made the mistake of introducing myself and TALKING to these guys (I was one of 2 wives there)- and I think I scared them to death. They had looks of absolute terror on their faces. I don't think they had ever had to make polite dinner conversation before! The other wife is a friend, and after we had suffered through dinner and not near enough wine, we staged a phony page from the hospital (she's a doc) and got the heck out of there, with our husbands hot on our trail. The "emergency" turned out to be at the nearest bar, where we were busted by quite a few other engineers that ditched early as well!
