Heartbroken...

My NFL boyfriend LEFT ME A MESSAGE last night at 9 saying he wasn't going to be able to come into the city tonight because:

1. He's sick
2. The MTA strike

Please. I'm over it.

Do we say screw it and cut losses since who knows what really could happen... or do we say "Oh too bad, he's sick, maybe next time?"

I'm thinking the first.

Sorry this has happened, Kimmy.::hugs::
I dunno, I cut a lot of slack for boyfriends, and never regretted it. But you can't be a doormat, either. If your guts say dump, then dump. His loss.

Where is he - you said he couldn't come into the city - is he on the left coast or is he in the area? If he is close by - he should make a better effort.

He's in Connecticut visiting family for the holidays! He does live in LA though. All he has to do is hop on the Metro North and he's here.
If he wanted to be here...he would be here.
I have officially dropped all care and concern for the situation. And when that happens, it's hard to get back my attention.
I think it could have totally been fun...but come on. Give me a break!

KF.....On the other hand, he might be really sick and doesn't want to sneeze all over you, and the MTA strike is an issue.

I'm all about recommending that you hedge your bets on this one. My guess is that he is not up in Connecticut with someone else, but maybe tied to family and doesn't want to disappoint them either.

No harm in giving him the benefit of the doubt one more time. I know this is a "guy" perspective, but what the heck, it's just a friendly opinion.

One time when I was single and in the Navy, I was in Philly for training and Gypsea was in Ocean City with her girlfriends for the weekend. I hitchhiked from Philly on Friday night to be with her. I got there about 11PM. She was totally surprised and (fortunately) glad to see me. It was a good move on my part. Not only did we have a great weekend, but we ended up married 2 years later.

Give the guy one more shot. I've got a good feeling it might be worth it.

I am sorry too. BUT, don't let this ruin your holiddays. You have a lot of great friends. There will ALWAYS be somebody else - - somone who will make the effort. (You're allowed some self-pity, but then move on...)

Oh thanks for the advice...I don't have much invested in it...just a lot of build up. If our paths cross again- sure. I'm all over it. Until then...I'm going to lay low. I can't get worked up over something that's a whim.

pro:
you won't have to stop at mcdonalds for hamburgers after you go out to dinner Very very true. I mean I'm a Chic Fil A kinda girl myself.

he won't just show up at new years I mean I only have one set of lips. And we are kissing bandits. He may get uncomfortable.

you can finally throw away those roses Yeah. 100% dead.

con:
you won't be able to get married at the superbowl This is devastating. That would have been amazing... and Pro Bowl in Hawaii...

you won't be getting that diamond bracelet
I have enough best friends...I don't need diamonds.

I never got a diamond, either, Kimmi, at least not the kind that goes around your finger.

And I'm with Cap'N'Crazy--he really could be sick! BUT don't think about it. Zero Zip Nada. If he calls when he's better, you'll be pleasantly (okay, estatically) surprised, and if he doesn't, well, we'll all do the Happy Dance around the bonfire that it was good riddance to bad rubbish!

In any event, Kimmi, you know what we feel:

We love you Kimmi!

Now, this is the kind of guy who wins a girl's heart!
Waiting to hear Gypsea's input...
