let me preface this by saying i have never gotten along well with my maternal grandmother and she has never like me either because i am like my dad - who she also doesn't like. the only time she is civil to me is when i am giving her money (so my mom doesn't have to). she actually told my husband the day before we got married "she is so fat and so ugly, why would you want to marry her?) true quote.

anyway she is 96 and i keep telling my sis she is mean and won't die. so last night we did the christmas thing with my family, and mom was talking about dorothy (the grandmother) and said i don't know how she keeps living. my 3 year old (going on 13) nephew says "aunt dee said it's because she's mean and won't die". mom loved that.

next the nephew was a bit gassy, and he kept letting off steam so to speak. we were opening gifts, he fired one off, and my mom asked him if he needed to go poop. he said no, "don did that one" that is my hubby, who is very quiet, reserved, and embarasses way too easily.

lastly, i got the nephew a leapster for christmas, he and my dad were trying to get it hooked up to the tv, and were having some trouble. the nephew looked up and said "papaw, this damn thing don't work"

:clap_1: that's my boy !

Audie, sorry you had such a witch of a grandmother. That's just wrong on so many levels!
Yep, that's about the age they repeat everything they hear! When my dd was 3 or 4 she walked outside one morning and said, Dam#, it's cold today! Just hearing that come out of her mouth was so funny.

I remember my younger brother, about 3 yrs old at the time, waking up from a deep sleep in the back of the station wagon while on a trip and asking, "where the hell are we?" My parents did not cuss, nor were we kids allowed to, so I have no idea where he heard that. We were all a little surprised.

When my son was younger - he is now 9 - we were in a restaurant and he needed to use the restroom. Like a good mother, I asked him if he washed his hands before leaving the restroom. His response was, "No, the sign in there says 'All EMPLOYEES Must Wash Their Hands' and I don't work here so I don't have to!"

2 points about this strike me:

1. what a smart 9 year old !

2. isn't it sad the eating establishments have to put a sign up to remind employees to wash their hands ??? i would think that would be a no-brainer !

:floor: That is hilarious Smiling Joe. The same thing happened when my daughter was around 3 or 4 yrs old. We were looking at pictures and came upon one of her just standing in the middle of the room alone with her arms out. As she looked at it she said, "Aw look I look like I'm thinking where in the hell am I." We don't curse (much), especially not in front of her so I don't know where she got it. Who knows where they get things but kids are hilarious.

She was sitting on the potty around the same age and she said, "Mommy, why do boys have tails, we don't." I :rolling: in the floor! She apparently had caught a glimps of her brother or Daddy at some point.

Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!

Some good ones, you guys.

Many years ago my oldest son, about 3, maybe 4, looked down at his rising apparatus. He was, um, having an erection.
"Mommy, look, my wiener's upside down."

This one isn't as funny but it's just so kidlike. Last night I was arranging exquisite gourmet cheeses and other antipasti that my brother had sent as a Christmas gift. Champagne was being poured. My 16 year old looked at this splendid array.
"Mom, can I make some macaroni and cheese?"
