Can anyone tell me how I-10 is between Mobile and New Orleans? Are there any detours or delays? I'm headed down this weekend.

LL...those photos were stunning and sobering. I think they belong in the magazine along side the article with your bro. It really shows how the storm really damaged Mississippi more than NOLA and we hardly hear about those folks. Did you feel any progress was being made? I can't imagine seeing that and NOT being changed in some way. Glad you are home safely.

what's worse is we hardly hear about the folks in our own state who are still reeling from Ivan. there are many who are still not in their homes and fighting with fema and insurance providers. it's so sad.

Okay folks here are my pictures. I just got back last night. It is a very sad place.

I have some from the 9th Ward in New Orleans and I stopped in Gulfport to take some pictures on the way home.

It's still shocking to see photos like these...thanks for sharing.

Wow -- stunning. Thank you for sharing those very well-composed photos LL. They really tell a sad story.

I don't know about what they should do about the low-lying areas, esp. in NO. It's obvious the water caused the damage in every place. Look at those beautiful trees in Gulfport -- if winds were the culprit they would not even be there.

P.S. BLated congrats to Bsmart :clap_1:

Franny, take a look at Ashton's Bed and Breakfast, which is less than 10 blocks from the French Quarter. My sister-in-law's brother owns it and it's very well regarded if you check reviews in Travel Advisor and other travel sites. (And I can tell you from personal experience!) Their website is www.ashtonsbb.com. I know they had damage from Katrina but I'm thinking that they're up and running now.

LL, those photographs you took make me so sad. I can see why people want to stay there, though. Even with all the devestation, you can see it's a beautiful and special place--all those magnificent oaks take your breath away.

We bought the first King cake of the season today. Kate loves the baby- unfortunately Will got the baby piece tonight, but gave it to his sister before a brawl broke out.

Fortunately I am not tempted to eat the King Cake- ick. Bland dough with sugar everywhere- a waste of calories IMO!! But they are funn!
