I don't know how, but Kimmifunn found out that I was celebrating my birthday at my favorite restaurant in SoWal tonight and bought us our first bottle of wine. YUMMY! Thanks for the 1981 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. Seriously, that was quite a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed a great evening of great food and drink, great companionship, and top notch service. (pea to the pod, Joy says high right back at you twice today.) Now, I am ready for the rest of the weekend celebration. Yippie! Thanks again to all of the special birthday wishes and pm's.😀:wub:

Well, I thought she had only some connections, but when she called me at breakfast at a local eatery, then I knew she was fully connected. Thanks for the birthday surprise call. 😀

Tell us more about the new eatery! Gravel Road? Did it go in where Blue Luna was?CoS...where did you dine last night? I think we are headed to S&D for shrimp tonight!

Gravel Road was delicious and the Owner is really cool, too. I grabbed a lunch and dinner menu which I will scan and post later. It is located in Uptown Grayton (on 30A) across the parking lot from the old Blue Luna. I think Stroffie's was the business prior to Jesse moving back to town and opening Gravel Road.

Yes...that was Stroffie's. I am excited to hear you had a delicious meal!!! Did Jesse work in a restaurant in the area before? Has something opened up in the Blue Luna space?

Today was my first meeting with Jesse and his Soux Chef, Shawn, from Gravel Road. I understand that they worked together in another local restaurant which is no longer in business.

Yummy! I love S&D! We ate at Smith and Wollensky's. It was pretty good. I had not been there before. You know.... with all the other restaurants here in Dallas to choose from!

Isn't that the truth! Up by you, there must be a nice steak place every 20 feet! Steven (MS) still favors Del Frisco's for special occasions. I still just like a good steak at home from Mr. Kitty's grill and that's what's on the MENu tonight!

I love Del Frisco's too! Don't go very often--we live on a budget around here, but it's a favorite luxury. Dallas has so many great restaurants--need to venture over there more often!
