I listen to NPR. Literally all day in the car while I drive around and see clients. I used to be in the music promotion biz and music of 'the day' was shoved down my throat. I think I lost some hearing because of the music meetings. I love 80's and early 90's. When I first moved to Destin I thought the stations were awful but now I realize it's not the stations, its the music. and I might sound like an old fogey (only 45) but there is just not a whole lot available now as far as new music that appeals to me. I was always an alternative music lover but now "alternative doesn't seem to exist and its Pop or heavy metal - like my son (16) likes the screaming... i just dont get it. The instruments great - the singing... um, ewww.

The end is a comb fight, not a knife fight

sorry to say I didn't make it to the end. :rolling:

but these guys are pretty good in a redneck rap kind of way. reminds me of Kid Rock style music. but they are not that good.

a great fun song for Friday!!! what an oldie. so weird to go back in time and see these songs performed on video - we didn't get to see them, EVER, way back when. I didn't know what a lot of bands or individual singers even looked like then - and still have never seen some of them. there are so many bands from the 70s we never really saw in photos except on an album. even a live concert - you couldn't really see what these folks looked like! vh1 or other music documentaries are good for going back and taking a good look at the people behind the music you used to hear but hardly ever SEE.

NPR's All Songs Considered podcast series of live concerts has got a truly unusual show with Ray Davies doing Kinks songs with a choir. Well and truly off the beaten path, and worth the listen.

Lately, I've been listening to a band called the Beatles. Having bought all their albums (LP's, if you know what I mean) in my younger days, I never really kept up with them as I converted to cassettes. Later on, I occassionally got a CD from someone for Christmas or something. Then, when The Big Box Set came out, I decided rather than pay $250 for more CD's than I wanted to have, I just collected and mixed what songs I could manage, and guess what... these lads have more than a few absolutely brilliant songs. The early stuff holds up real well, and then when they changed...well,you know the story. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
