On 30A if an oncoming vehicle crosses the center in front of you, and it is before 4 PM they are texting or talking, and possibly drunk: after 4PM they are talking or texting or just plain drunk. (Am I over-generalizing?)
Applies to the locals and tourist alike.

if they're on any SOWAL roadway before 9am, and do the same, then they're either texting, talking, drunk, or applying make-up! I watched a lady weaving to and fro amongst the lanes by Silver Sands Factory Stores; she was applying mascara!....how the heck does one do THAT and see to drive? I'd be afraid to poke my eye out, not to mention run in to someone's butt! She must have been of the thought: "Hey, if you're going to have an accident, at least look good!" I guess that getting up 10 minutes earlier, and applying make-up prior to the ride to work, is too much to ask......one needs their "beauty sleep"!

I don't. But my husband has been known to do this.

I see it ALL the time, even on the freeway. I've done it a few times and I almost rear-ended someone recently. Very stupid, very. Of course, at the time i thought it was important.

I talk on my cell phone in my car because I can voice activate a call with a Bluetooth connection between the car and the phone. Incoming calls come in through my stereo system. Totally hands free.
I never text in the car. Slow typist. Hubby texts and reads/sends email while driving. Scares the heck out of me.

I only claim to be stupider than thou.....though I don't do make-up.

I can't imagine ever having the need for texting while driving. I've noticed a lot of extremely careless driving from cell phone users, and I'm using my horn more than I ever would have thought necessary.

Hail, I can't even text when I'm sitting in my living room.

I find that as the quantity of messages gets past a certain point, the quality goes down.

I would have just slammed on my brakes. Let her explain that mascara brush dent on her face for the rest of her life.
I really try not to text why driving, but talking is a whole other story. Generally though I trail off in the conversation as the road is my primary concern. I'll hang up on people when I start going through Seaside.

This is what we're coming to. This girl needs to walk off a cliff while playing with her Palm Pre.

To my knowledge ...........NO!

I don't text.
I do talk on the phone while driving though. I didn't see an end to the game...it just kept going and the phone kept saying "huh?" so I gave up. I would have caused a major pile up at those toll booths.

VLingo makes a great software program which converts talk into text. The free version allows you to speak dialing commands and runs circles around BlackBerry's own voice recognition. It is a great app. For something like $15, you can upgrade to have voice recognition for typing texts and emails.

The only problem is my texts would look like this:
What are... MOTHER EFFER GET OFF MY @SS! ...doing for dinner?

I had to pull over today. When your child texts you and they're out of town, you take what you can get!

Do you text or talk on the cell while you drive?
everyday.
almost eaten an arse end out of the car in front of me? yep.
almost ran off the road? yep.
almost hit someone head on? yep.
almost walked off of a dock at 10:30 pm, while texting? uh huh.
get pulled over from the nc troopers and get a ticket? more than likely.
learned my lesson? nope. not yet.

Why is multi-quote all of a sudden not working for me?

Johnrudy, I hear ya. I have too many stories on this subject to bore everyone with.

People talking on cell phones are bad enough drivers, but texters are even worse!
I admit that I sometimes talk on the phone while driving, but I try to limit it to the highway/interstate and if I have a passenger in the car, they answer the phone and talk to the person, not me.
No texting while driving in the Scootermobile - I have enough trouble doing that sitting on the sofa!
