Plane Crash on CNN..its my cousin

This morning I saw breaking news on CNN of an airplane crash in a lake in Winter Haven and thought about my cousin Susan Sugar and her husband John, both pilots. But, I say to myself, there are a bunch of planes and pilots in Winter Haven, what are the chances its my cousins.

The phone rings, its my mother. My cousin John Sugar and his father were in the plane, not sure which was piloting the plane that crashed in the lake in their back yard. John is alive with facial injuries and still evaluating and his father was air lifted to Tampa.

Prayers to the Sugar family, such wonderful people. They are in Sowal about 4 times a year and always a big part of our huge Thanksgiving festivities here every year.

My mother has been offered to fly with them in this exact plane. Apparantly it is one that is taken apart to be stored. My mother was never comfortable flying in it, so she hasn't. She flies in their other planes though.

I just stumbled onto a big report while watching Bay News 9 (local news) for a few minutes. Several of neighbors interviewed. Not much mentioned about John and his dad's condition that hasn't been already posted. Here is a link where you can click on the video if you are interested.

John Sugar had major facial reconstruction yesterday. His nose was very smashed and his face split from forehead to chin. They kept him overnight in ICU to watch for head injuries. He will be ok. John Sr. not so good, head injuries, loss of blood, unresponsive and the family has been called in.

It is a miracle that anyone could survive such a crash. Please continue prayers for these wonderfully sweet people.

I'm sorry to hear this. Glad John Jr. is recovering. Hope things will turn around for John Sr.

Wow - I can't imagine the trauma they must have experienced. I hope and pray that both Johns will be going home with their loved ones.

John Jr. is out of the hospital, he had some stitches removed today as well as some packing removed, and is feeling better. He was able to visit his father and his father responded!!! He responded with tears, why, who knows? Was it because John Jr., looked so aweful or because he is glad Jr is alive? Amazing moment I am sure. Something positive and my heart is bursting! Still no surgery for Sr., but it has to be done before his bones try to heal where they are and now that he is responding, we are so hopeful.

Thank you EVERYONE for your thoughts and prayers. The outcome so far is miracle material and I am grateful to you. Please continue the prayers and positive thoughts, and know that they are working.
