Here's the drawing of our little house going up in BMB. Note, parapet roof which will have solar panels and also note the suns - which are placed to track the position of the sun in the sky over the year. ICF construction with stucco exterior.

Thanks for looking

Hey neighbor!!

Hi Gidget! I'm sorry I have not written, but am in the same state as you I think as far as trying to pull it together and get unpacked. I may need you as a decorator, your room you posted a picture for looks great. Mine is a rental, but the whole house is painted the same color even the front door. I'm not much of a painter but I think I have to ad some bright colors to some rooms!!! I wondered where you are located. I'm at 22 Flounder. Does not look like much on the outside, but the inside will be very comfortable once I get done. Don't know how long that will take, but I'm making much progress finally. The living area is almost finished as far as unpacking goes. Whew! Don't want to move again for a long, long time!! I would love to come over and say hello once I know where you are. I'm glad you are enjoying yourself and your new home. It is exciting isn't it!!!!???? :funn::clap::welcome::bow::dothewave::biggrin: I hope to meet you soon. YEAH!!!! Brenda

Hurray!!! I finished the fish for my stair risers. Now I am working on just the waves that go between each fish.

Anxious to see how they look on the stairway. This is SUCH an adventure = daily! Some look crooked in pics but that is just photography ;-)
The fish are GORGEOUS! Love them!

We are IN!!!! More later as things are upside down. But I am VERY happy to be in our new home.

Congratulations! :clap:Love this thread.

Well, I named our house and made a sign today.

It represents the HEART of course that went into designing and working on a lot of it ourselves and of course the SOL is to give recognition to our solar panel system :D

Sign

Oh Gidget, I love the sign!!!! Hearts are a fetish of mine. The name of my business is Heart Pet Sitting and it is because I love hearts as well as animals. I'll know who lives there if I see the sign. What a nice job!!! Mine is just a rental but it has no name and I want to name it but have not figured out what yet. I am glad you are enjoying your new home. I hope we get to meet, Brenda

what a great house...do you think a citrus tree would be a good choice for your yard? The edible landscape is great...Had a friend who had grapefruit, lemon and an orange trees in his yard. It was a fabulous setting for breakfasts....

Citrus takes a little bit of work down here because of the winter cold snaps, and you need to check if a given species can self-pollinate or requires cross polination like some tangerines do.

But if you're willing to deal with the quirks, you won't find a better tasting satsuma than the one you can pick from your own yard, IMO.

We've surely thought about satsumas - my favorite citrus.

Right now we have 2 figs, loquat as far as trees. The rest is a just container growing fruit and veggies and herbs and oh yes, our small hydroponic set up

My DH is on Facebook- could you PM me so I can tell him where to look for your pictures?

ICF has worked out beautifully for us in the three years we have been in our house, even in Texas heat. AND we love our metal roof (has held up well in yearly hailstorms). I look forward to tracking down your "villa" when we are in BMB in September so I can see it for real!

Well, my bad. After thinking about it again, it is actually the charge controller that makes the noise. :D

But it is music to my ears - anyway, that's what it is - the fan cooling the charge controller. I think I got that right. I'm still SO learning.

Alicia did an article on solar and featured our house on the front of The Beach Breeze. I'm so thrilled!

Thanks gang for your supportive comments - I really like sharing with friends :D

Poodleone, I can't remember if I ever PM'd you but here's website :D

You don't have to be on Facebook to look at it. You do have to be on Facebook to "like" it (used to be called 'fan')

Net Zero ICF Solar Florida Home | Facebook

I made the site to answer questions and promote the idea of solar and ICF - a WINNING combination! Also, this way I can share pics with my family and friends who are not on FB.

Thanks again for stopping by!
