Both but different meals. Christmas eve is the inlaws, with snack, finger foods, appetizers, Christmas cookies and candy, dips etc.

Christmas day at my Mom's with the big traditional meal of everything, turkey, dressing, ham, etc, etc.

Ham, turkey and dressing, sweet potatoes, green been casserole, brocolli casserole, brussel sprouts, baked apples, mashed potatoes, lime-pear salad, rolls, and too many desserts to list.

We go to friends where we enjoy a beef tenderloin stuffed with lobster and a roast lamb. There's other things, but those are the two we can't pass up.

There is no "or", it is Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day. Actually the big meals started back around Halloween and haven't stopped.:blush:

Used to be Christmas Day. But now since daughter has a fianc?, we do the big meal on Christmas Eve, have brunch on Christmas AM, and then they go to Alpharetta to celebrate with his family.

Assuming Big D gets home from the hospital, we will do the following:

Christmas Day; I'm in charge for once, and we are having shrimp, assuming I can get to Shrimper's before tomorrow at 5:00. :D

Probably a ham too, to satisfy everyone else in the fam.

I think I'm doing both too.
Christmas Eve--Mexican (shredded beef tacos/beans/rice/guac/cinnamon cream cheese thingy for dessert)

Christmas Day--Traditional (Ham/Mashed Pot/ etc.)

Guess I better decide before I go to the grocery store in a few hours.

Mexican on Christmas Eve sounds great. Feliz Navidad before I go to church, but I'll bet they're all closed here. Might have to fly to DD's.

 Both plus the 26th. Braciole, pasta and Tiramisu (Paula's recipe) on the Eve. Cappalletti on Christmas Day and the day after.

Neither! We go to a friend's house Christmas Eve for a buffet of finger foods. (I guess you could call that a big meal. We eat like lumberjacks.) On Christmas Day, we get up, open presents, eat a cooked breakfast, (not big, but very yummy!) go back to bed, and eat leftovers later. It's wonderful!

Varies year to year. This year, New Years Eve. BBQ I smoke with peacan wood & Ham smoked with hickory. Lots of whisky 'cause there's lots of inlaws. Smoke a little, drink a little. What ever it takes.

my thoughts exactly

hey cp - I like the stocking..

we eat all the way through the holiday thank you very much. but, I guess the main meal is usually Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is too much fun to run around and see friends and family, then home to settle in and get tucked in so Santa can come - and then never leave the house for days. Christmas day is a big breakfast. then usually a big dinner that night. I have waited til the next day to do the big Christmas dinner (or the day after that) - sometimes we are just wasted (tired) from all the excitement of Christmas. and sometimes we have family coming in after Christmas so we have to do the big dinner again...

so it just depends I guess!

Hey, Tootsie. We're eating our way through Christmas, too. My Mom likes to make soup for Christmas Eve. I've got a turkey and a primerib ready to go for the following days. My son is arriving from Dallas with his family, so we'll have the turkey ready for them when they arrive. Will see how schedule goes for when we do prime rib. Will eat out, too, along 30A. A full week of eating at home and out between Christmas and New Year's Eve. But, DD, I'm missing me some of those Dallas tamales.
