wow. I thought everyone had to stay home in that kind of weather. funerals must go on, I suppose. what do you play?

so glad you found help - bless that person!

I am a musician. I teach piano, play organ/piano at church, weddings, funerals, banquets, horse shows (not too often!) am the accompanist for a mens' chorus, and I direct a senior citizens choir. Those people rock!😀 That's the most fun I have all week!

Although your argument against climate change is very compelling I would have to ask for links to your sources.

/sarcasm off/

Sweetie, I've "known" you for almost two years now. Your sarcasm is never "off." 😀

Thanks, I found the info I needed but it wasn't what I wanted to hear.

Ruh roh. Sorry to hear that, poppy. I have a feeling the landscaping companies will be very busy at many local businesses when the "thaw" comes.

Hi Krafty

Pretty cat  I don't know if you have seen the photo forum under U.S. states, but I rounded up some pics from google of North Dakota. If you would like, post some pics

there of N.D. I would love to see what it looks like. I am definitely impressed with the character building aspects that this place contributes to. Also, I am totally intrigued with

this beautiful area, but I don't know how I could live there. Maybe you could tell people about life in the extreme north, I have always wondered how people did it. I grew up

with relatives, teachers, friends, etc. that told stories about life. The different ways of living is a fascination for me, and was one of the things that has stayed with me after

traveling, along with the beauty of our country.

Hey, are all ya'll (please see thread on proper use of ya'll and all ya'll) in Big D going to be warmer than us'n in SoWal? Glad Dallas is winning today. Watch the Sunday night game for my big bro. It was cold today, but it was another killer sunset. Quiet water over the coastal dune lake reflecting the gulf, clouds and sun.

...and we know it will be warm soon! Flip-flops, cutoffs, and tee shirts - the finest attire. Can't wait for summer myself.

BH, I too wonder how folks do it up north. We lived in the DC area for two years -- happiest moment of my life was when I gave away the snow shovel at our goin' away yard sale. As a true child of the Gulf Coast, give me early summer, mid summer, late summer, and light summer for the four seasons.

It's cold, dangitall! I feel badly for the Midwest to the Northeast. They have been hammered...and, too many without power/heat! On the flip side, my friends in Idaho, Montana and Colorado are having a blast!

 Enough that you'll have to shovel?

It's no picnic here but I shouldn't complain. Haven't lost power (yet) and less snow than Eastern PA & DC area. We are one day closer to spring!

The shovel part is funny. I would venture to guess they do not have a snow shovel. About 10 years ago we got our once every other decade big snow. 16 inches!!! Now we are in the heart of the logging industry(well before the recesion now just not any industry. Anyway all the locals went out in their big work trucks to rescue people off the interstate. Sir,mam we would be glad to take you to the next town to a hotel, or the local churches have set up shelters if you need that. My favorite was the kind family from northern Illinois. Who said oh no thanks we will wait on the snow plow how long until it gets here. Poor folks. No snow plow in south Arkansas we just sit around waiting on a thaw. They took the ride to a hotel I believe.

My guess is a broom is adequate there for snow removal.

How do you get around without snow plows? Too many hills here to do without that.

Official snow fall here is 29.6 inches - snowiest February on record & we are not even half way through the month.

My crazy friends are driving here tomorrow from Georgia to visit and play in the snow. I told them I would be driving in the other direction!
